Francisco Liriano’s performance during his relief outing in Friday’s Game 2 between the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers was the last thing on everyone’s minds after the game.

Liriano left the Blue Jays’ eventual 5-3 win in the bottom of the eighth inning after he was hit in the back of his neck by a Carlos Gomez line drive.

Amazingly, Liriano left the game under his own power after being inspected by a trainer.

As for what happened when he no longer was in view of the cameras, Toronto Star columnist Bruce Arthur provided some details on Twitter.

He later was taken to a local hospital, according to USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale.

Liriano allowed two earned runs on two hits and one walk in 1/3 innings of relief.

The Blue Jays now hold a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five-game series after the win.
