Julian Edelman compared Tom Brady’s four-game suspension to “one of your buddies going to jail” last month. In that scenario, it seems Edelman drove to the clink and greeted his buddy on his release date Monday.

Brady’s suspension ended Monday at midnight, when he could return to Gillette Stadium and resume speaking to coaches and teammates about football. Edelman tweeted out a simple one-word message Monday morning.

The Patriots are at Gillette Stadium on Monday, have a day off Tuesday then practice Wednesday, Thursday and Friday before their Week 5 matchup against the Browns in Cleveland on Sunday.

The Patriots went 3-1 without Brady, and Edelman caught 19 passes for 196 yards from Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett. Edelman had just one catch for 16 yards and one 1-yard rush in the Patriots’ 16-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. He took two snaps at quarterback in a wildcat formation.
