Loui Eriksson’s first game with the Vancouver Canucks didn’t get off to the best start Saturday night.

The Canucks emptied their net for the extra attacker in the first period because of a delayed penalty call on the Calgary Flames. Eriksson was near the benches and attempted a pass to a teammate toward the Vancouver zone, but none of his teammates were there.

The puck sailed into the net as a Canucks player who desperately tried to save the own goal went crashing into it.

The Canucks recovered from this early gaffe and won 2-1 in a shootout, much to the delight of the home crowd. Calgary dropped to 0-2-1.
