The Oklahoma City Thunder signed star point guard Russell Westbrook to a contract extension in August after losing Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors in free agency. Now, they’re reportedly trying to lock up another key member of their core.

The Thunder and center Steven Adams are making significant progress on a four-year, $100 million contract extension, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports’ The Vertical. An agreement hasn’t been reached yet, but both sides reportedly feel strong momentum toward a deal.

Adams, who turned 23 in July, averaged 8 points and 6.7 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game last season. He’s currently slated to become a restricted free agent next summer, though the Thunder seemingly have identified him as an important part of their future.

A four-year, $100 million contract would be the same deal the Milwaukee Bucks gave to Giannis Antetokounmpo last month.
