NFL Rumors: Jay Cutler Open To Moving On From Bears Amid QB Uncertainty

Jay Cutler often looks disinterested, so it should come as no surprise the Bears quarterback reportedly has a very laid-back outlook on his future in Chicago.

It’s unclear whether Cutler will be reinserted as Chicago’s starting quarterback once he’s recovered from the thumb injury that has sidelined him since Week 2. Brian Hoyer has performed well in his absence. And it might not matter, as a source told Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole that Cutler is open to moving on from the Bears if the organization decides that’s the way to go.

“A source close to Cutler indicated even if he doesn’t get his job back, a divorce from the Bears may not be the worst outcome,” Cole said in a video published Wednesday. “Cutler would like to stay in Chicago but also is open to the idea of playing elsewhere for the remainder of his career.”

Cutler is under contract through the 2020 season. He also makes a boatload of money. But Cutler’s leadership has been questioned over the years. Perhaps the Bears will decide this offseason they’re better off going in a new direction, at which point Cutler probably will continue to look disinterested.
