FOXBORO, Mass — After struggling for most of the first 30 minutes of Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, the New England Patriots’ offense finally woke up during its final drive of the first half.

The scoring drive, which ended up going eight plays for 75 yards in 2:09, almost ended pretty quickly after Tom Brady threw an incomplete pass on third and 18 from the Pats’ 17, but an illegal contact penalty gave New England new life. And it took advantage of it, eventually, with a 39-yard pass to Chris Hogan that set up Brady’s 15-yard touchdown pass to James White.

That score put New England up 10-7 at the break.

Brady finished the half 12 of 16 for 136 yards with the one touchdown. He was sacked twice for 13 yards, but he was under pressure much more than that. White was his favorite target with six receptions for 38 yards.
