FOXBORO, Mass. — The New England Patriots signed a former New York Jets fourth-round draft pick to their practice squad Wednesday.

Wide receiver Shaquelle Evans, the 115th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, joined the Patriots’ practice squad. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound receiver, who also spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, hasn’t played in an NFL game.

The UCLA product ran a 4.40-second 40-yard dash during the pre-draft process in 2014 and also posted a 1.56-second 10-yard split, 34.5-inch vertical leap, 10-foot, 2-inch broad jump, 4.21-second short shuttle and 7.07-second three-cone drill.

The Patriots also re-signed guard Ian Silberman to their practice squad Tuesday. Silberman was released from the Patriots’ practice squad Sept. 28 after being signed Sept. 15. The Patriots had an open spot on their practice squad prior to signing him.

Based on practice attendance, it appears the Patriots released fullback Glenn Gronkowski, tight end Rob’s brother, to make room for Evans.

Evans joins two other wide receivers, Devin Lucien and DeAndrew White, on the Patriots’ practice squad.
