Few expected Saturday’s UFC Fight Night main event between bantamweight power hitters John Lineker and John Dodson to go the distance, but that’s precisely what happened at Moda Center in Portland, with Lineker pulling out a razor-thin split decision victory.
“I trained very hard for this fight, I came here for five rounds, I got one round after the other, that’s the way I like to fight,” Lineker said.
Scores were 48-47 twice and 47-48 for the No. 3-ranked Lineker, now 29-7. The No. 10-ranked Dodson falls to 19-8. And despite missing weight by a half-pound, Lineker believes he’s next in line for a shot at the 135-pound crown.
