NFL Fans in Mexico didn’t exactly have their shining moment when the Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders came to their hallowed ground.

Fans pointed lasers from the stands at Brock Osweiler and other Texans players Monday at Azteca Stadium in Mexico City during the NFL Week 11 game between the teams. Osweiler dropped back to pass at one point in the second quarter, and a green light on his helmet was visible to everyone.

Fans also directed laser beams toward Texans running back Akeem Hunt during the contest.

Opthamology expert Dr. Robert Josephberg told USA TODAY in 2014 that green lasers of this type are “powerful weapons that can cause very severe damage and blindness,” according to USA TODAY’s Martin Rogers.

Osweiler admitted the laser pointer had a negative impact on his performance.

“I never want to say one thing’s a difference maker, but certainly having a laser zoomed in your eyeball definitely affects how you play a game,” Osweiler said after the game, according to USA TODAY’s Martin Rogers.

The score was 10-10 when fans began pointing lasers at Osweiler. Houston would go on to lose to Oakland 27-20.
