Running back Dion Lewis officially was activated off the physically unable to perform list to the New England Patriots’ 53-man roster Saturday afternoon.

The Patriots had an open spot on their active roster after releasing running back Tyler Gaffney on Thursday.

Lewis tore his ACL last November. He had a cleanup surgery on his knee this summer, forcing him to start the season on the PUP list. Lewis first began practicing Oct. 27. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said no decision had been made on Lewis as of Friday.

Lewis is eligible to play against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. The Patriots will declare inactives an hour and a half before the 8:30 p.m. kickoff.
