Justin Verlander Goes After Writer Who Told Kate Upton To ‘Pipe Down’

We’ll say this about Justin Verlander and Kate Upton: They definitely have each other’s back.

Upton stood up for her fiance this week after Boston Red Sox pitcher Rick Porcello edged him out for the American League Cy Young Award by calling out the two voters who left Verlander off their ballots entirely. Her social media crusade made for an entertaining story, but some, including Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News, thought Upton’s outrage was unwarranted.

As such, Feinsand, who wasn’t one of the 30 BBWAA writers who voted for this year’s AL Cy Young Award, wrote a column in which he suggested that Upton and everyone else complaining about Verlander not winning “pipe down.” The column wasn’t too harsh, as Feinsand even added a “with all due respect” before dropping the hammer, but Verlander clearly wasn’t a fan. The Detroit Tigers ace went after Feinsand on Twitter on Thursday, leading to an interesting exchange.

Verlander posted photos on Instagram earlier in the day of him and Upton in Rome, so hopefully this little Twitter beef didn’t put a damper on the couple’s vacation.
