Arguably one of the greatest football players ever to wear a Boston College uniform will receive quite the honor Saturday.
Former Eagle and current Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is back on campus, where he’ll have his No. 12 jersey retired at BC’s game against UConn.
It’s easy to see why his number is going up at Alumni Stadium. He led the Eagles to a historic 2007 season, as he set the single-season school record with 4,507 passing yards. Ryan also won the Manning Award for the top college QB, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year.
“Very happy to be back here at BC,” Ryan said Friday, as aired on “NESN Live,” presented by Cross Insurance. “Certainly a special weekend for myself and my family. … I’m really looking forward to (Saturday). I think it’s going to be a lot of fun. I’m excited to be back for a game. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to make it back to campus for a game.”
