The Brothers Bennett will not do battle this Sunday night at Gillette Stadium.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett will not play against the New England Patriots, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed Wednesday in a conference call with New England media members. Bennett underwent arthroscopic knee surgery last week and sat out Monday’s win over the Buffalo Bills.

Bennett’s younger brother, tight end Martellus Bennett, is in his first season with the Patriots after a three-year stint with the Chicago Bears. He leads all Patriots receivers with four touchdown catches through eight games while ranking second in both catches and receiving yards.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady surely will not complain about Michael Bennett’s absence Sunday. The 30-year-old is one of Seattle’s most talented pass rushers, and he tormented Brady in Super Bowl XLIX, registering four QB hits in New England’s dramatic 28-24 victory.
