Ty Law had a great career with the New England Patriots, and he could be headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, soon.
The former cornerback was named as one of 26 semifinalists for the 2017 Pro Football Hall of Fame class Wednesday.
Law was a fantastic player — 53 interceptions and seven touchdowns in his career — but it might be difficult to earn enshrinement with all of these great players for voters to pick from.

Running back LaDainian Tomlinson likely will be among the inductees despite being on the ballot for the first time. Wide receiver Terrell Owens and safety John Lynch also are good bets to get in after being finalists for the 2016 HOF class.
Still, Law was one of the best players at his position for a long time, and he played a crucial role on three Super Bowl-winning teams with the Patriots. He deserves Hall of Fame induction, but it might not happen in 2017.
