With the Green Bay Packers’ season likely on the line Monday night, quarterback Aaron Rodgers turned in one of his finest performances of the season against the Philadelphia Eagles.
But all anyone wanted to talk about was that mysterious tent.
Rodgers suffered a hamstring injury that required medical attention from the Packers’ medical staff in the second half. ESPN’s Lisa Salters reported as much during the network’s “Monday Night Football” telecast, showing video of Rodgers entering a mysterious, small tent on the sideline.
Naturally, the Internet had jokes.
But the reason for the tent actually is pretty simple, especially considering the injury. Take it away, former Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk.
Rodgers explained in a little more detail after the game.
“I just didn’t want to be getting taped up on the television,” Rodgers told reporters after the game, per ESPN.com. “But obviously, when I walked out and saw the camera right in my face, I knew there was probably some sort of mini-story growing. But no, I had to drop my drawers a little bit to get taped up and just wanted to do (that)Â in the privacy of that tent.”
So there you have it. Mystery solved.
Rodgers — hamstring ailment, tent trip and everything else involved — might have saved the Packers’ season by completing 30 of 39 passes for 313 yards and two touchdowns without any turnovers, helping Green Bay to a much-needed 27-13 win over Philadelphia.
