Will the Aaron Hernandez saga ever end?
The latest news about the former New England Patriot tight end is he filed a lawsuit in Boston, Mass., federal court that is charging Securus Technologies, a Dallas-based prison technology company, with negligence, breach of contract and invasion of privacy.
The lawsuit stems from an alleged unknown person who apparently listened to some of Hernandez’s phone calls without authorization.
The lawsuit asks Securus to explain how the conversations were accessed, how many were heard and who listened to them.
The calls were hacked in 2014 while Hernandez was incarcerated in a Boston jail awaiting trial in the killing of Odin Lloyd, according to The Associated Press. The Suffolk County Sherriff’s department, which oversees the jail, has confirmed that the were calls were hacked.
Leonard Freiman, an attorney for Securus, told The Boston Herald the company plans to respond to the complaint and will preserve potentially relevant information.
This is hardly Hernandez’s only legal battle. He also is awaiting trial for the double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado, which took place in Boston in 2012.
