Bruins’ David Pastrnak ‘Day-To-Day’ After Undergoing Elbow Procedure

The Boston Bruins likely will be without their leading goal scorer for at least the next two games.

Bruins forward David Pastrnak underwent “a successful removal of the olecranon bursa from his right elbow” Friday at Newton Wellesley Hospital, general manager Don Sweeney said in a statement Saturday.

Pastrnak is expected to miss Boston’s games Sunday and Tuesday and is considered day-to-day.

The 20-year-old is enjoying a remarkable season for the Bruins, entering Saturday as the NHL’s second-leading goal scorer behind Sidney Crosby (21) with 19 goals in 27 games. That’s already a career high, as Pastrnak tallied 15 goals in 51 games last season and 10 goals in 46 games as a rookie.

The Czech Republic native tallied two points (a goal and an assist) in Wednesday’s overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins and has 26 points on the season, second on the team behind Brad Marchand (27).

Boston welcomes the Los Angeles Kings to TD Garden on Sunday and will take on the New York Islanders at home Tuesday.
