Former NHL All-Star goaltender Artus Irbe once said “The goalie is like the guy on the minefield. He discovers the mines and destroys them. If you make a mistake, somebody gets blown up.”

Kyle Palmieri made a mistake, and he got blown up.

Late in the first period of Thursday night’s matchup between the New Jersey Devils and Montreal Canadiens, the Devils right winger took a breakaway too deep into the crease and upended Canadiens goaltender Carey Price.

Price was not pleased, and responded with a flurry of punches.

Price has done a good job protecting his net this season, as he currently has a .942 save percentage, good for third in the league.
