The Heisman Trophy is the most well-known college football award, but it’s hardly the only one.
The rest of the awards were handed out Thursday night at the Home Depot College Football Awards at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, and the front-runner for the Heisman and his competition were among the big winners.
Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson was named the winner of the Maxwell Award, which goes to the player of the year in college football. Deshaun Watson, who some believe is Jackson’s top competition for the Heisman, was named the Davey O’Brien Award winner for best quarterback. Heisman finalist Dede Westbrook took home the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the nation’s best wide receiver.
