Did Floyd Mayweather Tell Nate Diaz He’s Going To Fight Conor McGregor?

Floyd Mayweather apparently wants to do more than just “slap” Conor McGregor.

The undefeated boxer has stepped up his trash-talk game toward McGregor ever since the UFC lightweight champion obtained his boxing license in the state of California. Yet Mayweather insisted he’d never fight McGregor in the ring or octagon — that is, until Thursday, when he made some interesting comments to Nate Diaz.

In an Instagram video uploaded to YouTube and FightHype.com, Mayweather can be seen chatting via FaceTime with Diaz, the only fighter to defeat McGregor since 2010 when he shocked “The Notorious” at UFC 196.

There’s plenty of smack talk throughout, but the most interesting part comes at the 1:54 mark, when Mayweather says this to Diaz, speaking of McGregor:

“Hey, Nate, tell me what I gotta do,” Mayweather says. “Do I gotta? That boy is … aw, man. I see what you did to him, now. I’m gonna put the finishing touches on him.”

Those sure sound like the comments of a man who wants to fight McGregor.

The Irish MMA fighter has insisted he won’t fight until May 2017 at the earliest — his girlfriend is pregnant with the couple’s first child — so don’t expect a superfight anytime soon. Still, both fighters are shrewd businessmen, and if the buzz continues, there’s a chance they could finally give the fans what they want.
