Guy Loses Out On $100K NFL Parlay After Ravens’ Late Field Goal Sinks Bet

Gambling is an experience of highs and lows, with the latter usually happening.

One guy put $5 down on a 15-team NFL Week 14 parlay at William Hill, and he got every game right up to Monday night’s showdown between the New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens.

The Patriots were 7-point favorites, so he needed a New England win by eight or more points to win the parlay or lose it all because, according to ESPN, it was an all-or-nothing parlay.

Well, this guy lost the bet in heartbreaking fashion after the Patriots won 30-23, resulting in a one-point loss on the parlay. If the Patriots had covered, this man would’ve won $100,000 on a $5 ticket.

Ouch.

The bet looked like a winner for most of the game. The Patriots jumped out to a 16-0 first-half lead and led 23-3 almost halfway through the third quarter, but a pair of turnovers helped Baltimore climb back in the game. Still, the Patriots led by 10 with just a few minutes left, but a Justin Tucker field goal trimmed New England’s lead to 30-23 with 2:03 remaining, and there was no more scoring after that.

This is among the worst ways to lose a multi-team parlay, and the lesson for this guy would be to find a sportsbook that would grant the previous 14 games as wins after the 15th was a push. Basically, don’t do all-or-nothing parlays.
