The Houston Cougars will hope to end their wild season on a high note Saturday in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Houston looked like a college football darling after upsetting Oklahoma in its opener and starting 5-0, but the team has gone just 4-3 since then and seen its head coach, Tom Herman, take the coaching job at Texas.
The Cougars’ new head coach, Major Applewhite, will have his hands full against 10-3 San Diego State, which won the Mountain West Championship Game over Wyoming on Dec. 3.
