It Wasn’t Pretty, But Bruins Find Way To Win On Road Against Sabres

The Boston Bruins’ bench was short Saturday.

Zdeno Chara and John-Michael Liles both were out again, and Patrice Bergeron played against the Buffalo Sabres after sitting out Friday’s practice with a non-injury issue.

So, as the saying goes, a win is a win.

“Well, it was a good effort,” coach Claude Julien told NESN’s Andy Brickley and Jack Edwards on “Bruins Overtime Live’ after Boston’s 2-1 win. “I know it wasn’t a pretty game and it wasn’t our best game, but we had a short bench tonight for numerous reasons. And obviously those guys that played had to play hard and play lots of minutes here — hard minutes.

“… We had to grind it out. We got that two-goal lead, which helped a lot because they came back and scored another one. But at the end there we did a great job of protecting that lead.”
