NBA fans will have another gift under the tree this Christmas, as a familiar voice will be returning to the television coverage for the annual NBA Christmas marathon.

ESPN announced on Twitter that Magic Johnson will be rejoining ESPN’s “NBA Countdown” as a studio analyst after a three-year hiatus. The Hall of Famer will make his debut on the show on Christmas Day before returning full-time on Jan. 21 alongside Michael Wilbon and Sage Steele.

Johnson gave his thoughts on his return to ESPN Mediazone.

“I’m so excited to be working with my ESPN family again on ‘NBA Countdown’ Saturday Nights,” Johnson said. “Michael, Sage and I are going to have a lot of fun this season while we cover the greatest sport in the world. Basketball has been so good to me, and I can’t wait to once again share my love and passion for the game with the fans and my ESPN colleagues.”

The 12-time All-Star previously served as a studio analyst from 2008 to 2013 before leaving ESPN, citing a need to prioritize other commitments.
