Dan Gronkowski shared some positive news Wednesday regarding the status of his younger brother, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski.

Speaking with WCVB-TV, the elder Gronkowski said his brother’s latest back surgery, which he underwent earlier this month, “wasn’t as major” as the two procedures the tight end underwent earlier in his career.

“So I think he actually felt better after the surgery because it takes some pressure off,” Dan Gronkowski said, as transcribed by WEEI.com. “He’s always a goofball. You guys know that by now, but he likes to work hard. He’ll get back into shape. …

“He is definitely doing better, yes.”

Dan Gronkowski appeared on WCVB to promote the “Gronk Fitness Program,” a workout initiative put on by the Gronkowski brothers in cooperation with Boston Sports Clubs.

“This is actually the kind of training (Rob) does a lot of now because he doesn’t want to go squat, he doesn’t want to go bench 500 pounds now,” Dan Gronkowski said. “He would rather push a push sled, jump on the plyo boxes, do lighter weights with interval training so you get that feel like you’re on the field training for those types of movements.”

Rob Gronkowski was placed on injured reserve Dec. 3, ending his season. He intends to return to the field in 2017.

“I highly appreciate the support from all my teammates, friends and family and the courage to stay strong,” Gronkowski said earlier this month in a statement to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer. “I am excited to knock out this rehab and get this core extra strong and looking super fresh to get this body back out on the field.”

The Patriots visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday.
