If you were a WWE superfan in 2007, you probably remember the infamous “Vince McMahon Appreciation Night” that ended with his “death.”

Of course, Mr. McMahon didn’t actually die, but some people apparently believed the storyline, including the president-elect of the United States.

Before we get to Donald Trump’s part in all of this, though, it’s important to remember what happened on that particular “Monday Night Raw” episode. If you want to get the full background, you can read this great recap at WrestlePundit.com, but all you really need to know is that Mr. McMahon’s limousine blew up at the end of the episode, which you can see for yourself in the video below.

His “death” was completely staged, but Trump and others apparently really thought McMahon died in the fiery incident, as relayed by WWE legend Triple H on the “Opie & Anthony Show.”

The president-elect, who also is a WWE Hall of Famer, has a long relationship with the McMahons, including when he shaved Mr. McMahon’s head at WrestleMania 23. McMahon’s wife, Linda, also is Trump’s choice to lead the Small Business Administration.

So you’d think he’d know the ins and outs of professional wrestling a bit more.
