Red Sox Offense Vanishes With Chris Sale Pitches, Tops AL In Strikeouts

The Boston Red Sox send Chris Sale to the mound Thursday afternoon as they face the Toronto Blue Jays in a matinee matchup at Rogers Centre.

Sale leads the American League with 29 strikeouts and is just behind Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw, who has 32 Ks, for the most in the major leagues.

The Red Sox’s offense seems to disappear when Sale is on the hill, though. Sale has the lowest run-support average among Red Sox starting pitchers with just 1.25 runs per game.
