Red Sox’s Chris Sale Won’t Be Suspended For Throwing Behind Manny Machado

Boston Red Sox pitcher Chris Sale will not be suspended for throwing behind Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado.

Sale threw a fastball right behind Machado’s legs in the first inning of Tuesday’s Red Sox-Orioles game, and given the ongoing feud between the two teams, many viewed the pitch as intentional.

This wasn’t the first time a Red Sox pitcher nearly hit Machado. On April 23, Boston relief pitcher Matt Barnes threw near the Orioles infielder’s head, which earned Barnes a four-game suspension.

The Red Sox and Orioles won’t meet again until June 1.
