The 2017 Major League Baseball All-Star Game will be the first Midsummer Classic to not determine home-field advantage in the World Series since 2002, but it still should be a fun night.
The stars will be out in full force at Marlins Park in Miami as Boston Red Sox ace Chris Sale will get the start for the American League, while Washington Nationals star Max Scherzer will take the hill first for the National League.

MVP: Robinson Cano picked up MVP honors by clubbing the go-ahead home run in extra innings. He went 1-for-2 with a home run and a couple great defensive plays in the field. The game was dominated by pitching from the the first inning, as the teams combined for more strikeouts (23) than hits (17).
Final: American League 2, National League 1
Seattle Mariners second baseman Robinson Cano’s solo home run in the top of the 10th inning gave the AL its fifth straight win in the All-Star Game and 12th win in the last 17 contests. Boston Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel picked up the win. He joined Roger Clemens (1986), Pedro Martinez (1999), Josh Beckett (2007) and Jonathan Papelbon (2009) to record a win in the Midsummer Classic.

Andrew Miller came in to record the save for the AL.
— Corey Seager ripped a line drive down the right-field line, but Justin Upton made a sliding catch for the first out of the inning.
— Ender Inciarte bounced a ground ball up the middle, but Francisco Lindor ranged to his left, gloved it and threw him out.
— Joey Votto drew a two-out walk in front of Cody Bellinger.
— Miller got Bellinger to swing through a nasty 1-2 slider to give the AL its fifth straight victory.
Top 10: American League 2, National League 1
The Chicago Cubs lone All-Star, Wade Davis, took over in the 10th inning.
— Robinson Cano blasted a solo home run to right field to give the AL a one-run lead.
— Davis bounced back by striking out Mike Moustakas for the first out of the inning.
— Justin Upton dribbled a single up the middle.
— Michael Brantley bounced into a 1-6-3 double play to end the frame.
Bottom 9: American League 1, National League 1
Boston Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel entered with the game tied in the ninth inning.
— Yadier Molina walked on four straight pitches to put the winning run on first.
— Kimbrel rung up Josh Harrison with a 98-mph fastball that the Pittsburgh Pirates infielder swung through.
— The Red Sox closer fired a fastball off the glove of catcher Gary Sanchez that allowed Molina to take second.
— Jake Lamb walked to put runners at first and second for Paul Goldschmidt.
— Goldschmidt flew out to center field, but Molina tagged up and took third to put the winning run 90 feet away.
— Kimbrel blew a 98-mph fastball past New York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto to send the game to extra innings.
Top 9: American League 1, National League 1
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Kenley Jansen was tasked with keeping the game tied in the ninth inning.
— Yonder Alonso ripped a single to right field to begin the frame.
— Alonso swiped second base with Nelson Cruz batting.
— Jansen blew a 2-2 fastball by Cruz for the first out of the inning.
— Gary Sanchez swung through a 95-mph fastball for the second out.
— Jansen was called for a balk that allowed Alonso to take third.
— Avisail Garcia whiffed on a high fastball to end the threat.
Bottom 8: American League 1, National League 1
Chris Devenski got the ball to begin the eighth inning for the AL.
— Ender Inciarte lined out to first base.
— Joey Votto struck out on a curveball in the dirt.
— Cody Bellinger ripped a ground ball to second baseman Robinson Cano to end the inning.

Colorado Rockies closer Greg Holland took over on the mound for the NL in the eighth.
— Mike Moustakas flew out to right to open the inning.
— Holland blew a 2-2 fastball by Justin Upton for his first strikeout of the game and second out of the inning.
— Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Brantley ripped a two-out single into right field.
— Francisco Lindor swung-and-missed at a slider in the dirt to end the inning.

Roberto Osuna took over for Ervin Santana on the bump.
— Paul Goldschmidt fouled out to right field.
— Michael Conforto laced a one-out single to center field.

San Diego Padres left-hander Brad Hand took the mound to begin the seventh inning.

Ervin Santana relieved Brandon Kintzler, and Gary Sanchez took over as his battery mate.

— Yadier Molina launched a solo home run to tie the game. He became the oldest catcher to homer in an All-Star Game.

— Justin Turner popped out to second to end the frame.

Corey Seager took over at short, and Cody Bellinger replaced Bryce Harper in right field. Ender Inciarte got the nod in center, while Yadier Molina took over behind the plate. Josh Harrison was the new second baseman, and Justin Turner started manning the hot corner. Paul Goldschmidt was the new first baseman, while Zack Greinke took over on the hill.

— Yonder Alonso ripped a two-out single to right.

— Giancarlo Stanton tapped the ball in front of the plate and was thrown out by Salvador Perez.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood took over for Carlos Martinez, who was dominant in two innings of work.

— Mookie Betts followed by flying out to center field.
— Jonathan Schoop got a two-out rally started with a laser double down the left field line.
— Miguel Sano drove in Schoop with a bloop single to right field.
— Aaron Judge flew out to right-center field to end the inning. He finished his night going 0-for-3.

Kansas City Royals pitcher Jason Vargas replaced Dellin Betances on the hill, Jonathan Schoop took over at second base for Jose Altuve, Yonder Alonso came in to play first for Justin Smoak and Miguel Sano subbed in for Jose Ramirez at third base.
— Nolan Arendao led off the inning with a single.
— Ryan Zimmerman flew out to center field, and Mookie Betts threw out Arenado, who tried to tag up and take second.
— Marcell Ozuna grounded out to shortstop to end the inning.

— Carlos Martinez blew a fastball by Carlos Correa for the second out of the inning.

New York Yankees reliever Dellin Betances took over for Chris Sale to begin the third inning.
— Zack Cozart greeted Betances with a first-pitch single to left field.
— Betances struck out Charlie Blackmon with a 99-mph fastball for the first out of the inning.
— Betances then struck out Giancarlo Stanton with a filthy 1-2 slider.
— Bryce Harper walked to put runners on first and second with two outs for San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey.
— Betances issued a four-pitch walk to Posey to load the bases for Daniel Murphy.
— Murphy grounded out to third base to end the inning.
Betances was shaky, but when your stuff is that electric you can get away with lackluster control.
And, it appears, The Freeze lost his All-Star Game race.

St. Louis Cardinals ace Carlos Martinez got the ball in the third inning for the NL after Pat Neshek worked a scoreless second inning.
— Mookie Betts grounded out sharply to first base to begin the inning.
— Martinez made Jose Altuve look silly with a nasty 1-2 slider. It was hist first strikeout of the game.
— Jose Ramirez shot a single into right field. The Cleveland Indians star is 2-for-2 on the night.
— Ramirez stole second base with a 1-2 count on Aaron Judge.
— Judge grounded out weakly to shortstop to end the inning.
Bottom 2: American League 0, National League 0
— Daniel Murphy ripped the first pitch of the inning into left field for a single.
— Nolan Arenado followed by muscling a single to right field to give the NL runners at first and second with no outs.
— Chris Sale got Ryan Zimmerman to roll into a 4-6-3 double play.
— Marcell Ozuna waved at a 2-2 slider in the dirt to strand Murphy at third and end the frame.
Sale gave up the three hits but looked like his dominant self in his two innings of work. The left-hander threw a 99-mph fastball during the first inning. It was the hardest pitch he has thrown all season.

Philadelphia Phillies reliever Pat Neshek took over for Max Scherzer to begin the inning.
