David Ross sounds like he didn’t take his time in Boston for granted.

The veteran catcher reportedly signed a contract with the Chicago Cubs earlier this week, joining Jon Lester on the North Side and ending his time with the Red Sox. He tweeted his appreciation for Red Sox Nation on Saturday morning.

Ross signed a two-year contract with the Red Sox following the 2012 season. He served primarily as the team’s backup catcher, appearing in 94 total games with the club. Ross’s ability to work with a pitching staff was a crucial part of his time in Boston. That was no more evident than the 2013 World Series where Ross appeared in four games, helping the Red Sox win the title.
