When Aqib Talib signed with the Denver Broncos, it looked as if the New England Patriots’ secondary took a major hit. And then Darrelle Revis became available.

Talib put Patriots fans into panic when he left New England to sign with the Broncos prior to the 2014 season. His departure left a giant hole in the Patriots’ secondary — a hole that needed to be filled for the Pats to have any chance of returning to the NFL’s promised land.

Shortly thereafter, Revis was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, at which point he signed with the Patriots. Revis’ time with the Patriots was short — just one season — but he was a crucial piece of New England’s fourth Super Bowl win.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick explained the decision to sign Revis after Talib’s departure in the latest clip for the upcoming “Do Your Job” special on NFL Network.

The NFL released four other “Do Your Job” video clips last week. The show will debut Sept. 9 on NFL Network at 8 p.m. ET.
