Patriots Offensive Keys: Chris Harper Must Emerge In Depleted Receiver Corps

The New England Patriots had room to add just seven rookie free agents after the 2015 NFL Draft, and they made the most of those signings.

Among the Patriots’ initial undrafted free-agent signings were center David Andrews, linebacker Brandon King and wide receiver Chris Harper. Andrews has started all 10 games at center for the Patriots this season, King is a special-teams standout, and Harper has his opportunity to step up Sunday night against the Denver Broncos.

Harper has played two games for the Patriots but has zero NFL receptions so far. That must change in Week 12, however, since he’s one of just two fully healthy receivers on the Patriots’ roster along with Brandon LaFell.

Wide receiver Danny Amendola won’t play against the Broncos after practicing just twice on a limited basis this week. Keshawn Martin also is questionable and hasn’t played for five consecutive games because of a hamstring injury.

The Broncos have some of the NFL’s best cornerbacks, including former Patriot Aqib Talib, so Brady will need to spread the ball around to find potential mismatches. Harper is one of the players Brady will have to find while picking his spots.
