Christian Vazquez is known for his defense, but he brought his bat with him to Fenway Park on Sunday night, too.
The Boston Red Sox catcher hit a towering home run over the Green Monster in the bottom of the seventh inning of Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees to put the home team up 8-6 at the time.

That home run might never land.
Vazquez’s blast was the second time in the weekend series the Red Sox were able to get to usually dominant Yankees reliever Dellin Betances. On Friday, Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz tagged the hard-throwing righty with a game-winning two-run home run.
The Sunday night home run from Vazquez proved to be the difference, as Boston hung on for the 8-7 win, sweeping the series with the Yankees.
