FOXBORO, Mass. — Kevin Faulk took a stand on behalf of his former quarterback this weekend, and the New England Patriots couldn’t be happier.

Faulk, who was Tom Brady’s teammate in New England for more than a decade, showed solidarity for the suspended QB at the 2016 NFL Draft by wearing Brady’s No. 12 jersey under his suit and dropping Brady’s name when announcing the Patriots’ first third-round selection.

Patriots fans loved Faulk’s bold move, and so too did Patriots running backs coach Ivan Fears, who coached Faulk for 10 full seasons in New England.

“Fantastic. Fantastic,” Fears said Monday. “You know that’s my boy. If anyone could go out there and do the right thing — you know Kevin and Brady are like that. You know (Faulk) was going to do something. I was just waiting to see. I loved it. I loved it.”

Faulk’s show of support for Brady even drew praise from normally reserved head coach Bill Belichick, who admitted Saturday his former running back “always makes good decisions.”

Faulk also is a finalist for the Patriots Hall of Fame this summer, along with cornerback Raymond Clayborn and linebacker Mike Vrabel. Fears is a bit biased, having seen the shifty, multi-purpose running back help the Patriots win three Super Bowls in the early 2000s. But he knows who he’s voting for.

“He’s got my vote. You know that,” Fears said. “What he did here, and what he’s been able to do for this program through the years I’ve been here? The kind of guy, leadership role — definitely my guy.”
