FOXBORO, Mass. — Sorry “First Take”, you’ll need a new topic for the next two months.

Head coach Bill Belichick was proactive in getting ahead of any possible quarterback controversy surrounding his New England Patriots when he announced Tom Brady would remain the starting quarterback after returning from his four-week suspension.

“Tom will return as the starting quarterback when he comes back,” Belichick said Wednesday at Gillette Stadium.

Belichick also confirmed Jimmy Garoppolo will start at quarterback in Week 1.

“We had finally some definition with Tom’s situation, so our priority now then is to get Jimmy ready for the start of the season, for the Arizona (Cardinals) game,” Belichick said. “So, that will be a comprehensive process.”
