During Thursday’s first round, game No. 3 features Wake Forest taking on Georgia Tech, while in No. 4 Boston College is matched up against Virginia. In that latter matchup, the Wahoos will look for some revenge after suffering a 61-49 loss to the Eagles back in February. Things may be a little bit different this time, as in that contest Virginia was missing its leading rebounder, Telia McCall.

Check out the grid below for a complete list of television providers and corresponding channels to see how you can catch the first round of the tournament live on NESNPlus at 6 and 8 p.m. ET.

But now it’s senior night at Littlejohn Coliseum, and the Tigers are hoping to end a mini two-game losing streak to BC.

Both teams are looking to improve their position heading into the ACC tournament next week, but Clemson comes into Tuesdays matchup reeling just a bit, having lost their last four games — although a few of those were against top-tier competition. The Eagles, meanwhile, just haven’t been very good on the road this season, earning just a 2-7 mark away from the Conte Forum.

Check out the grid below for a complete list of television providers and corresponding channels to see how you can catch the Eagles and Tigers live on NESNPlus at 7 p.m. ET.

Now ranked No. 24 in the country as their season winds down, FSU is hoping to avoid the same fate and finish strong against the University of Virginia Cavaliers.

While the Seminoles have locked up the No. 4 seed in the ACC, they still have something to play for in keeping their momentum heading into the conference tournament. The team beat the Cavaliers twice last season, but Virginia — led by the high-scoring Ataira Franklin — will be a very hungry team after losing their last five in a row.

Check out the grid below for a complete list of television providers and corresponding channels to see how you can catch the Seminoles and Cavaliers live on NESNPlus at 1 p.m. ET.

No. 5 Miami may no longer be undefeated in the ACC after a loss to Wake Forest just four days ago, but the Hurricanes are a heavy favorite against Virginia Tech at the BankUnited Center. The Hokies, for their part, are reeling, beating Florida State in their last game but losing their previous nine before that.

Check out the grid below for a complete list of television providers and corresponding channels to see how you can catch the Hokies and Hurricanes live on NESNPlus at 7 p.m.

Boston College forward Eddie Odio sent Conte Forum into a frenzy Sunday night.

With 7:35 to play in the game, Odio took an inbound alley-oop pass in mid-air and threw down a rim-rattling slam that pulled the Eagles within one point of Duke. Blue Devils guard Tyler Thornton attempted to block Odio, but was out of position and will now probably be the victim of a BC basketball poster.

The Eagles (10-13) nearly pulled off an epic upset over the No. 4 Blue Devils in a 62-61 loss in Chestnut Hill. Boston College held a 61-59 lead with just under a minute to play, but three Mason Plumlee free throws allowed Duke to escape with a narrow victory.

Check out the slam in the video below.

The current shuffle of big-time college programs moving to different conferences could continue as early as Monday.

ESPN.com reports that the University of Maryland could leave the ACC and join the Big Ten Conference in the near future. If Maryland does indeed officially announce a move to the Big Ten, Rutgers University would most likely follow suit.

With the addition of Maryland and Rutgers, the Big Ten would balloon to a 14-team conference.

The one snag in the situation comes on the financial side. In order for Maryland to withdraw from the ACC, the school must pay a $50 million exit fee. This could pose a problem, because the university has had to drop some athletic programs recently to combat budget issues. The fee for Rutgers to separate from the Big East is only $10 million, as long as the school notifies the conference 27 months in advance.

The loss of Maryland’s presence in the ACC would not hurt the conference’s pedigree much, as Pittsburgh, Syracuse and possibly Notre Dame will join the conference as early as 2013.

The Eagles are coming off their most impressive win of the season last week when they edged Maryland at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass. Tune in to NESN at 3:30 p.m. to see if the Eagles can mount a two-game winning streak against the Demon Deacons.

The matchup features two NFL draft sleepers from the 2013 class. Boston College has a tall, unrefined tackle who could make waves with a nice end to the season, while Wake Forest features a cornerback who has all the tools, but hasn’t shown stellar production so far.

John Wetzel, Boston College, Tackle

Wetzel has prototypical height for the NFL, but like most 6-foot-7 offensive line prospects, lacks strength and bulk at 300 pounds. Wetzel shows nice athleticism for his size, and flashes pro-quality pass protection skills, but struggles getting a push while run blocking. The senior two-year starter shows decent footwork, but could work on his technique and pad level. Wetzel doesn’t always use his length to its fullest extent, which could be caused by lack of elite strength. Wetzel is a late-round prospect.

Chibuikem Okoro, Wake Forest, Cornerback

Okoro also has prototypical size for the NFL at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds. Okoro is inconsistent out on the field, sometimes coming up with a key pass breakup, while getting burned at other times. Okoro formerly went by his middle name, Kenny, but chose to show his Nigerian roots this season going by his first name. Okoro is a fluid athlete, but doesn’t have elite speed. He shows off impressive instincts, as evidenced by his impressive plays, but sometimes a lack of athleticism can catch up to him. Okoro is another late-round prospect.

Saturday's starter, Caleb Rowe, became the fourth Terrapins' quarterback lost to a season-ending injury. Rowe tore his ACL late in the fourth quarter in a loss to Boston College, but stayed in for Maryland's final play – a game clinching interception. The true freshman QB was supposed to redshirt this season, but was forced into action after three injuries earlier in the season.

Senior C.J. Brown tore his ACL during training camp, Perry Hills tore his ACL Oct. 20 against N.C. State and Devin Burns was also lost for the season after suffering a Lisfranc injury in the same game.

The Terps are now down to two true freshmen, neither of which were recruited to play quarterback. Shawn Petty will start this week against Georgia Tech according to the Washington Post. Petty has been a linebacker during his debut season at Maryland, but also played quarterback in high school. Petty threw for 1,300 yards and 15 touchdowns his senior season. He rushed for 550 yards and 10 scores.

Tight end Brian McMahon will be Petty's backup. McMahon played quarterback in high school and threw for 1,289 yards and 14 touchdowns his senior season, while adding 772 yards and eight scores on the ground. Petty was a two-star prospect coming out of high school according to Rivals, while McMahon was unrated.

At this point, Maryland quarterback might be the most dangerous job in America — if only they got paid.

For one play in the Florida State-Miami game, there were 23 men on the field. And one of them was a crazy person.

With six minutes left in the first quarter, a man ran on the field waving his arms wildly as the Seminoles completed a 15-yard pass.

The play was ruled complete since officials ruled the field-stormer did not interfere with the play. It also looked like he went untouched by any players. If only NESN's own Matt Chatham was on the field.

Thankfully, the man was not a streaker, he was fully clothed, so we can show you the video. Watch the man grab his fifteen seconds of fame and somehow avoid all contact in the video below.

It seems that everyone has a different opinion on Aboushi and Tate this season. You can decide for yourself on Saturday at 3 p.m. when the Cavaliers and Terrapins battle on NESNplus.

Virginia hasn't started the season as well as they likely would have hoped, but they can turn their fortune around against Maryland at Scott Stadium in Chartlottesville. The Cavaliers started their season off hot topping Richmond and Penn State before losing four straight, including an embarrassing Week 6 loss to ACC bottom-dwellers, Duke.

Maryland fans may have been disappointed by a Week 3 loss to UConn, but the Terps showed their skill keeping it close with No. 5 West Virginia in Week 4. The Terrapins are coming off a 19-14 home win against Wake Forest.

The Terrapins haven't been producing top NFL talent recently, but they have three prospects to watch on Saturday, while Virginia has two intriguing players as well.

#6 Kenny Tate, Maryland, Safety/Linebacker

Tate was once considered a top prospect at safety, but a switch to linebacker may change some of those plans. Tate is 6-foot-4, 220-pounds and could play either position in pros. He's fluid for his size and has a lot of versatility, even lining up with his hand down at defensive end to rush the passer. If he plays linebacker in the pros, he could have trouble fighting through blocks to get behind the line of scrimmage, but he may lack the top end speed teams look for in a safety. Still, he's a smart player who has nice closing speed and should be able to cover the new breed of tight ends in the NFL. Tate will be a mid-round prospect and may draw interest from the Seahawks, who typically love players built like Tate at both defensive back and linebacker.

#72 Oday Aboushi, Virginia, Offensive Tackle

Aboushi could wind up hearing his name called in the second day of the draft. He moves very well for his size at 6-foot-6, 310-pounds and doesn't have any problem with his strength at the point of attack. His footwork is clean in pass blocking, but he does have a tendency to stay a bit too high at times. He does a nice job in run blocking and keeps his balance well.

#9 Demetrius Hartsfield, Maryland, Outside Linebacker

Hartsfield is a big linebacker in the mold that the Patriots usually look for. He'll likely be a strongside linebacker at the pro level and has a good size/speed combination. He's a strong player who fights through blocks well, but has some issues in pass coverage. His instincts didn't flash as being too impressive; he's sometimes slow to react on a play.

#53 Steve Greer, Virginia, Linebacker

Greer mans the middle linebacker spot for Virginia and has been a productive defender. He moves well laterally and has a nose for the ball. Greer doesn't look overly athletic, which may make him a seventh-round to undrafted prospect. He's smooth in coverage and looks like a smart player out on the field.

#72 Joe Vellano, Maryland, Defensive Tackle

Vellano is a space eater at the college level and may not have the strength to do it in the pros. He doesn't look overly athletic and doesn't use his arms or hands violently enough to get into the backfield with any consistency. He's quick off the snap at times, but it's not enough. Vellano looks like an undrafted player.

Dyrell Roberts broke one of life’s fundamental rules on Saturday. He ran with scissors.

Roberts’ blatant disregard for societal norms actually occurred on the gridiron, as the Virginia Tech wide receiver discovered a pair of scissors during the first quarter of the Hokies’ game against North Carolina.

Roberts picked up the scissors and quickly tried to get the officials’ attention while the Tar Heels lined up for a play. The refs at first didn’t recognize Roberts’ efforts, though, leaving us wondering what would have happened had Roberts played a down with the scissors in his hand. Clearly, that would have been a little on the dangerous side, but hey, he still decided to push the envelope of what’s socially acceptable by jogging the scissors over to the sideline.

Glennon found Bryan Underwood for a two yard touchdown pass on fourth down
with 16 seconds left, helping North Carolina State rally to beat
third-ranked Florida State 17-16 on Saturday night.

The Seminoles (5-1, 2-1 Atlantic
Coast Conference) appeared poised to strengthen their grip on their
division, leading 16-0 at halftime behind a dominating defensive
performance. But the Wolfpack (4-2, 1-1) inched closer after halftime
before coming up with a game-turning blocked punt by Mike Rose with 2:27
left, giving the ball back to Glennon at the FSU 43 with a chance to
complete a stunning comeback.

Glennon marched the Wolfpack down
the field and completed a pair of fourth-down passes, the second when
he found Underwood alone over the middle to tie the game and take the
lead on the ensuing point-after kick.

FSU drove near midfield in the
final seconds, but the Wolfpack defense knocked down EJ Manuel's
desperation heave near the goal line to end it.

The play sent the Wolfpack
players spilling onto the field in celebration, capping a stunning turn
considering how overmatched they looked in the first half.

N.C. State never led until
Glennon's late pass and Niklas Sade's PAT. N.C. State had just 68 yards
and four first downs in the first half, with the Seminoles using a short
touchdown pass from Manuel and three field goals from Dustin Hopkins to
silence a rowdy home crowd.

But the FSU team that was in such control going into the locker room isn't the one that came out for the second half.

Chris Thompson ran for 115 of his
141 yards in the first half for the Seminoles, while Manuel threw for
218 yards with an interception. Florida State managed just 122 yards
after halftime and squandered all three of their timeouts, which proved
crucial once the Wolfpack finally pushed in front.

With October here, the meat of the ACC regular season schedule has begun for its women's soccer teams. On Thursday night, be sure to tune in to NESN to catch all the action as Boston College travels to North Carolina for a midseason matchup.

Boston College (8-2-2, 2-1-0 ACC) enters the game having split their last four games and coming off a 1-0 loss to Pepperdine. On the season, BC is outscoring its opponents 33-13 behind the play of leading scorer Kristen Mewis whose nine goals lead the team.

North Carolina (6-3-2, 2-2-1) is one of the most storied programs in the history of women's soccer but have had mixed results in 2012. The one bright spot has been the play of goalkeeper Adelaide Gay who has been near perfect and enters the game with a sub-one goals against average.

Be sure to tune in to NESN on Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. ET to catch all the action from this ACC showdown.

McCourty has faced Manning once before, during his rookie season in 2010, and even picked off the former Colts quarterback on the way to a Patriots 31-28 win. So, he has a good basis for defending the four-time NFL MVP. But he knows Manning will be ready come Sunday, and McCourty plans to be just as prepared for the challenge.

"I think the biggest thing is we got to try to not just compete on Sunday. We need to outcompete him during the week right now," McCourty said of this crucial week of practice. "We know he's going to put in the time to be very prepared for our defense. We got to put in the same time so we're prepared for him offensively."

Manning is one of the most well prepared and detail oriented quarterbacks in football, and it shows in his performance on the field. After four games this season, Manning is completing nearly 65 percent of his passes, just a shade under his pre-surgery 66 percent from 2010, and only looks to be getting better with each passing week.

Luckily for the Patriots defense, they're in a unique position squaring off against an equally prepared and precise Brady in practice each day. That's something McCourty is well aware of and has been taking advantage of in preparing for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

"I think one thing we get to see a lot is another quarterback [like Manning] all the time," McCourty said. "Playing against Brady, he's the type of guy that if you're a little off, you know he's going to be right on. So, I think that mental focus that we have to go and attack practice with, we get to practice on it."

The Patriots know slowing down Manning is a tough feat, and McCourty is well aware that multi-interception games, like the one he enjoyed in Buffalo last week, don't often occur when Manning's the one slinging it for the other team. But in using one future Hall of Famer to prepare for another, McCourty is hopeful the Patriots will at least be able to limit Manning's success.

This week was no different.

Cincinnati quarterback Munchie Legaux completed a 39-yard hail marry pass in the final 13 seconds to upset Virginia Tech on Saturday.

We may be burying the lead here though. There's a college football player named Munchie Legaux. Legaux was born Benton Shannon Legaux, and according to ESPN.com, got the nickname when he was two-years-old because his family thought it was funny to watch him try to eat with two missing front teeth.

Legaux chewed through the Virginia Tech defense for 376 yards and three touchdowns. He only completed 45.2-percent of his passes, but he hooked up on the most important play of the day.

Watch the video of the play below as Damon Julian just barely clears the end zone line before his knee touches down.

Things will only get tougher for the Vandals when they travel to Chapel Hill and Kenan Memorial Stadium to take on North Carolina in a non-conference game that represents the first-ever matchup between the two schools.

The Tar Heels are 2-2 after beating rival East Carolina 27-6 last week, but after this one they get into the meat of their ACC schedule in earnest. And though North Carolina isn't poised to make a run at a national championship, they do carry some talent of national interest, so there are plenty of reasons to tune into this one.

Playboy released it's annual party school rankings and named the oldest public school in the country No. 1.

"Raise a glass to UVA, whose students know a thing or two about raising glasses and everything important to this list," Playboy posted on their website.

The rankings were based on three categories: sex, nightlift and sports. Virginia ranked third in nightlife, second in sex and 16th in sports.

The relatively low sports ranking may have something to do with their football team, who are 2-2 this year, but have only beat FCS Richmond and the struggling Penn State. The Cavaliers were drubbed 56-20 in their only ACC matchup against Georgia Tech.

NBC News reports that University of Virginia officials weren't pleased with the dubious honor.

“We are demanding a recount,” said UVA spokeswoman Marian Anderfuren.

Here is Playboy's full list of best party schools:

1. Virginia

2. USC

3. Florida

4. Texas

5. Wisconsin

6. Georgia

7. Vanderbilt

8. Tulane

9. TCU

10. Ohio State

Finishing last was SUNY College of Environmental Science of Forestry.

UNC may never ascend to the top of the NCAA rankings, or even the ACC standings, but year after year they produce top NFL talent.

Tune in this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on NESNplus to see the Tar Heels (2-2) take on Idaho (0-4) at Kenan Memorial Stadium in Chapel Hill. North Carolina has had a rough start to the season losing to their only real tests in Wake Forest and Louisville while beating their cupcake opponents Elon and East Carolina. You can chalk up another win for UNC against the Vandals on Saturday.

The Tar Heels have three senior players that could be first or second round picks in the 2013 draft, while Idaho has a few sleepers of their own. Here are your five players to watch:

#73 Brennan Williams, Right Tackle, North Carolina

The Easton, MA product has the most NFL-ready technique of any senior tackle prospect. Williams does a good job of bending at his knees for his 6-foot-8 frame and has really concentrated on his footwork in the offseason. Williams moves laterally very well for his size and kicks out against speed rushers like few others. Williams uses his great length to keep defensive linemen at bay, rarely letting a defender get too far inside. Williams struggles in space, and when he's asked to pull he whiffs on his defender just as often as he gets a good clean block. He looks quicker than fast and should be a first-round pick. Williams plays right tackle at North Carolina, but could play either tackle position in the pros. Williams attended Catholic Memorial High School and is the son of former Patriots and Seahawks defensive lineman Brent Williams.

#92 Sylvester Williams, Defensive Tackle, North Carolina

The other talented Williams from UNC is a little older than the rest of his 2013 prospect counterparts. He'll be almost 25 when he gets his first snap in the NFL due to working at a manufacturing company making radiator parts before continuing his football career at Coffeyville Community College. Williams has been at UNC the last two seasons and has a great motor, and flashes rare athleticism for his 6-foot-3 305 pound frame. Williams has a nice swim move that he uses to get into the opponent's backfield and holds his ground well against double teams in the middle of the UNC defense. He can play either DT position in a 4-3 and DE in a 3-4 and gets off the snap fast. He has a tendency to get his pad level a bit too high at times, and could struggle to anchor against the run if he can't fix that. Williams should be a second round pick in 2013.

Watch Williams in action in a clip below.

#64 Jonathan Cooper, Left Guard, North Carolina

Cooper should be one of the first interior linemen selected in the 2013 draft. He doesn't have elite size, listed at 6-foot-3 295-pounds, but he'll probably come in closer to 6-foot-2 at his pre-draft measurements. Cooper does a great job with his technique and moves extremely well on pull blocks keeping his body under control in space. He does a nice job getting under his defender and uses his arms well to keep them off balance. Cooper looks great moving back in pass blocking and gets very physical, which is something you don't see too often from Tar Heels prospects. Due to lack of perceived value for guards, Cooper will likely be a second round choice.

#48 Kevin Reddick, Linebacker, North Carolina

Reddick is a less impressive player than his draft-prospect teammates, but he does have elite athleticism that should still draw interest from NFL teams. Reddick isn't overly physical and has a tough time consistently fighting through blocks. When he can get a tackle or pressure the quarterback, it's usually done on pure speed and athleticism. Reddick doesn't flash great tackling technique, and looks lost at times in coverage. Reddick does flash nice instincts and finds himself around the ball often, but it's rarely behind the line of scrimmage. Reddick should be a fourth or fifth-round pick based on athleticism, but he'll need to get stronger and more physical to compete in the pros.

Watch Reddick in action in a clip below.

#8 Gary Walker, Safety, Idaho

Walker is the best draft prospect on the Vandals roster, but still may need to wait until the undrafted signing period to find a team. He has a nose for the ball, moves well laterally and has smooth hips when he has to turn and run with a wide receiver. Walker doesn't show great instincts and has a tendency to bite too often on play fakes. He's a bit undersized, but can play both safety positions and lines up at corner at times at Idaho.
