It was the goal of After the Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back to remind fans that not only do their favorite athletes work hard on the field, but they also continue that hard work in their off-the-field endeavors as well.

Boston legend Doug Flutie was one of the featured athletes during the new program, as he discussed his charity, the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation. The charity's primary objective is to raise awareness and support families affected by autism disorders.

Flutie was extremely grateful for the charitable donation by Hess and for the New England fans who voted for his charity to receive the additional donation.

On Wednesday night, Hess and NESN's After The Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back show will present the former BC Eagle and New England Patriot with a $25,000 check for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism during WB Mason Bruins Face-Off Live on NESN at 6:30 p.m. ET.

BOSTON -– Fans of NESN's hit new original program, After The Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back, have spoken and have chosen the Doug Flutie, Jr. Foundation for Autism as the grand prize winner of an additional $25,000 donation from Hess. As the show's philanthropic sponsor Hess has already donated $5,000 to the favorite charity of all eleven sports figures featured this season on NESN.

Shaq definitely enjoys Boston living. While sitting in the living room of his new apartment, Shaq was at peace listening to the sounds of the traffic going by.

"Love that sound," he said. "Boston, gotta love it: Clam chowder, the sounds and good people."

Shaquille O’Neal

During his upcoming episode of After the Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back, the cameras followed Shaq through the Boston area as he searched for a new place to call his own. Shaq is particularly interested in living in the Back Bay area, and even checked out a place on Newbury Street.

Shaq has been splitting his time between living in Sudbury and staying at the Ames Hotel in Boston, and after a few weeks of going back and forth, he’s finally ready to find a place closer to the TD Garden to cut down on his daily commute.

Shaquille O'Neal

When asked about his toughest opponent during his upcoming episode of After the Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back, Shaq gets serious and points to himself.

"I can't stop me," he says before breaking into a goofy grin.

These are just a few of the game-day rituals observed by Celtics center Shaquille O'Neal. While the cold shower and tunes make sense, the gum-chewing habit is just a tad strange. Shaq says that he chews four pieces of Big Red before every game, and just before he heads out onto the floor, he sticks the wad under his seat for safe keeping.

"I've been doing that for 19 years," Shaq recalls during his upcoming episode of After the Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back.

Michael Jordan ranks first on Shaq's list. Jordan's legacy has left a lasting impact on Shaq, especially considering Jordan put up 64 points against the Orlando Magic in 1993 — Shaq's first trip to Chicago. O'Neal was no slouch in that game either, recording 29 points with 24 rebounds.

Also on Shaq's list is Celtics' great, Larry Bird, and Bird's notorious frenemy, Magic Johnson.

Bill Hall

In addition to his own indoor batting cage, Hall has his own basketball court and putting green. On his Superman-themed court, Hall practices his "Shaq" dunks on a hoop that he's made a tad shorter than regulation height.

"I'm a bit older now, so I can't jump as high," Hall joked during the tour.

Bill Hall

In 2007, Hall donated $25,000 to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Hall has been no less giving as a member of the Red Sox.

During his upcoming episode of After the Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back, Hall takes viewers through his Arizona home which features a putting green, a basketball court and an indoor batting cage. Not to mention a full-sized pool with a waterfall and slide.

Using his batting cage, Hall can stay loose during the offseason in an area that's all his own. He even takes a few swings for the NESN crew to show off his skills.

Hall grew up idolizing Mays since he was his father’s favorite player. Mays is considered by many to be the best all-around player of all time, and Hall definitely tries to emulate the Say Hey Kid’s style.

“There wasn’t a lot of things on the field he couldn’t do,” Hall said of Mays during his upcoming episode of After the Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back. “And being that he was my dad’s favorite player gave me the mentality I have that whatever position I’m put on the field to do, I can do it.”

Also listed on Hall’s top five favorite players list is Ozzie Smith, whom Hall says is probably his favorite player. Even though Hall grew up to play a multitude of positions in the MLB, he started out playing shortstop just like Smith.

That's how Bill Hall prefers to start his game day, with a quick walk to the local Starbucks to get his morning cup of coffee. Once Hall gets to the clubhouse, he gets into game mode. He starts the afternoon with some batting practice before heading into the clubhouse to watch footage of the pitcher he's facing that night.

Once the game starts, Hall has just one superstition: never touch the lines.

"I'm not very superstitious, but the ones I have are pretty important to me," Hall said. "So I try and hold to them."

During his upcoming episode of After The Game, Hall said one of his favorite activities in Boston is simply walking from his apartment to the closest Starbucks to grab his morning coffee. He says the walk isn't long, but he just likes to get out into the city first thing in the morning.

It didn't take long for Hall's fiancée to learn where the best shopping is in Boston, as Hall said both he and his future wife love to shop along the famous Newbury Street. After a long day of shopping, Hall says he enjoys hitting up his favorite restaurant, Abe & Louie's, for one of their signature steaks.

That's the dilemma that Bill Hall encounters every time he steps to the plate against his former teammate and good friend. Hall and Sabathia first met while playing together in Milwaukee and have kept in touch ever since.

Hall says he always struggles against the Cy Young candidate, and wonders if their close friendship has anything to do with his less than impressive numbers.

"I think if I face him again, I'm going to think of him as not my friend," Hall said. "But it's definitely a good relationship, we're both out there to win."

Matt Light

In fact, he was second-team All-State at linebacker, and played tight end as a senior in high school before heading to Purdue University.

During his upcoming epidode of After the Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back Patriots tackle Matt Light takes fans throughout his home and property, and makes a special pit stop in the kitchen to show fans a security camera installed in the ceiling.

"I've got a little camera up there in the corner. So if there's anyone in my kitchen…beware, I'm watching you," Light joked.

The offensive tackle also shows off his outdoor pool and entertainment area, complete with an outdoor grill and bar.

Light sat down for a one-on-one during the premiere episode of After the Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back to talk about some of his favorite activities and landmarks in Boston.

First and foremost, Light talked about how much he enjoys going to Cape Cod, a common summer activity among Bostonians. An avid fisherman, Light discusses how much he enjoys fishing down on the Cape during the summer months.

He also talks about his favorite activities in the city itself. As a family, the Lights enjoy visiting the museums that Boston has to offer, especially the Children's Museum and the Museum of Science.

His top two favorite players were the stars of his hometown team, the Quebec Nordiques (now Colorado Avalanche). These players are ones that Bergeron cheered for as a child, and aspired to be like when learning to play the game.

Two players on Bergie's list are Quebec natives, just like him. Bergeron says he holds a lot of pride and respect for the players that came out of his home province.

Mike Lowell

During his episode of After The Game: Work Hard, Live Well, Give Back, Lowell takes viewers into his 'Memorabilia Room,' where he keeps his World Series rings, All-Star game equipment, and bats and baseballs signed by some of the greatest legends to ever play the game.

Lowell's most prized possession, however, is on display in their family room. The 2007 World Series trophy sits proudly in the center of the room, and next to that is his MVP trophy from the series where the Red Sox swept the Colorado Rockies in four games. Also on the shelf is the champagne bottle popped right after the World Series victory signed by all of Lowell's Boston teammates.
