San Francisco 49ers fans were heartbroken by the outcome of this year’s Super Bowl, but at least a few Niners fans are getting some revenge.

Police in Almeida, Florida arrested local resident Robert Pham on Wednesday in connection to a Super Bowl ticket scam that cost some 49ers fans $5,900, according to the Mercury News.

Pham, 37, claimed to be a Ravens fan on Craigslist and claimed to be selling four tickets to the big game. Sharon Osgood, a Haywood, Florida resident and 49ers fan, bought the tickets for the near $6,000, but when the package arrived there was nothing but some messages that read “Go Ravens! LOL!” among other taunts.

Osgood was outraged by the hoax, but at least feels some comfort now that the super scammer has been caught.

“There was still all that anger about how could somebody do this and just think it was OK and send a note like that,” Osgood said. “Now it’s kind of come to closure.”

So, while the Super Bowl loss may still sting for many 49ers fans, at least a select few can take solace in recouping their own losses.

The Celtics point guard dropped by some schools on Tuesday morning to meet with kids, and he also did a little teaching of his own.

At Burke High School in Dorchester, the All-Star took to the whiteboard to teach some algebra.

“Teaching freshman algebra with Ms. Oshodi at Burke high school this AM. Thx for having me,” Rondo tweeted.

Rondo also hung out with the kids at Harbor Middle School.

See a photo of Rondo teaching algebra below.

We will spotlight Red Sox and opposing team temperatures on game days.

Believe it or not, the Red Sox have a winning record away from Fenway Park. That is great news considering they are set to open a 10-game road trip in Cleveland against an Indians team that has lost 11 of its last 12 games.

Adrian Gonzalez leads the pack to Progressive Field riding an eight-game hitting streak and 10 RBIs in his last 10 games. Gonzalez is hitting .278 away from Fenway Park this season and has five doubles in 15 at-bats against the Indians in 2012.

Gonzalez is no stranger to Thursday night's Indians starter Ubaldo Jimenez. When Gonzalez was with the Padres and Jimenez with the Rockies, the two faced each other quite a bit. In his career, Gonzalez is only 5-for-27 against Jimenez, though.

Cody Ross has his own little seven-game hitting streak going. Ross is 11-for-his-last-25 but has struggled this season on the road. He is only hitting .235, but he enters this trip on a tear. He was a vital participant of the Red Sox' near comeback win on Wednesday against the Texas Rangers going 3-for-4 with a double and a home run.

Cleveland, who is 51-60 this season, enters with Michael Brantley leading the way as the Tribe's hottest hitter. He's only hitting .295 on the season, but the outfielder is hitting .400 in the last seven days. He's been a Red Sox killer this season, going 9-for-18 with four doubles.

Check out the rest of the temperatures below.

Red Sox
Adrian Gonzalez, 100
Cody Ross, 97
Dustin Pedroia, 80
Carl Crawford, 77
Will Middlebrooks, 77
Pedro Ciriaco, 71
Mike Aviles, 67
Nick Punto, 62
Ryan Lavarnway, 59
Jarrod Saltalamacchia, 58
Ryan Kalish, 58
Jacoby Ellsbury, 56
Kelly Shoppach, 53

Indians
Michael Brantley, 81
Shin-Soo Choo, 77
Travis Hafner, 76
Carlos Santana, 76
Shelley Duncan, 75
Asdrubal Cabrera, 74
Ezequiel Carrera, 70
Casey Kotchman, 68
Brent Lillibridge, 67
Jack Hannahan, 63
Jason Kipnis, 58
Lou Marson, 57

And, much to the dismay of a handful of other AL squads battling for the two wild card spots, things are looking great for the O’s down the stretch. That’s because Baltimore’s recent call-up of top prospect Manny Machado just might help them return to the playoffs for the first time since 1997.

In 109 games for Double-A Bowie, Machado is hitting .266 with 11 homers and 59 RBIs. Machado is the ninth-ranked prospect in baseball, according to Baseball America.

Machado is primarily a shortstop but the O’s have made it clear that J.J. Hardy is their starter right now. Wilson Betemit and Mark Reynolds have not been the best answers at the hot corner and if Machado can successfully make the switch and play the position better than Betemit and Reynolds have, Baltimore could make a solid push for a wild card slot.

Will Machado help the Orioles? Vote below.

Sacramone was a member of the 2008 Women's Gymnastics team that won a silver medal in Beijing. The Boston-area native, who trains at the same gym as Aly Raisman, placed second on vault and balance beam at the 2012 Olympic Trials but was not named to the team.

Adrian Gonzalez' first half numbers couldn't have been more out of the norm. He struggled to hit at or above his usual .300 mark in the first three months of the season, but the second half has been much friendlier to him.

The first baseman has a nice seven-game hit streak going into Wednesday afternoon's game against the Texas Rangers. Since the calendar flipped to August, he is hitting .462 with a homer and seven RBIs.

July was very kind to Gonzalez as well and that's why he is the hottest hitter on the team.

Fortunately for the Red Sox, they have not had to deal with Mike Napoli, the usual Red Sox-killer. Instead, Nelson Cruz has been the challenge for Red Sox pitchers. Cruz is a hot 5-for-8 in the series but is only 1-for-14 in his career against Wednesday's starter Josh Beckett.

Check out the Red Sox and Rangers temperatures for August 8.

But she still has a chance to become the world's most famous long jumper, as her movie star looks and precocious talent make for a dynamite combination.

Klishina, 21, won gold in last year's European Indoor Championships and followed that up with a gold at the European U23 Championships later that year. A former World Youth champion, she also has the second-farthest jump of all-time by a junior athlete (23' 3/4") and finished fifth and fourth at the last two World Indoor Championships, respectively.

All of this makes Klishina an athlete to watch at next year's World Championships in her native Russia and at the next Olympics in Rio. But her talent isn't the only reason for Klishina's popularity. Klishina is one of the most attractive women in track and field, and crowds seem to have caught on to that fact. Here's to hoping that, come Rio, Klishina will have what it takes to mix it up with the world's best.

The Jamaican track star won the 100-meter final in an Olympic-record 9.63 seconds Sunday evening.

Bolt broke his previous record time of 9.69, set at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Bolt was .05 seconds from landing a new world record (9.58), which he set at the 2009 world championships.

Fellow Jamaican Yohan Blake won silver (9.75), and Justin Gatlin of the United States won bronze (9.79).

Bolt had faced doubts about whether he'd dominate again coming into the London Olympics. He had back and leg issues, and even his personal life came under some scrutiny, with some accusing him of partying a little too hard.

On Sunday there were no more questions. Bolt became the first man to defend the 100-meter race since Carl Lewis in 1988.

Sunday's afternoon win was the first in the month of August and it was capitalized by a stellar pitching performance from Franklin Morales, the resurgence of Carl Crawford's bat and a two-run home run from Adrian Gonzalez in the fifth inning that proved to be early insurance runs.

Boston had a 2-1 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning and after Crawford singled to center and Dustin Pedroia flied out to right, Gonzalez hit a two-run Nick Blackburn pitch over the Green Monster to bump the Sox' lead to 4-1. Gonzalez finished the afternoon 2-for-3 with that key home run and three RBIs.

Crawford has seven hits in his last 14 at-bats, and it's starting to look like the Red Sox may be getting their money's worth. The left fielder has three home runs in his last 10 games and has seen his average jump up to .279 going into a key series against the Texas Rangers.

Likewise, Gonzalez struggled in the first half of the season and was having difficulty getting his batting average near the .300 mark. In the second half of the season, however, he's pushed his average to .304 and has a nice five-game hitting streak going.

As for the pitching staff, when Boston acquired Craig Breslow in a trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks, questions arose whether it would allow Morales to return to the rotation, a role that worked well for him and the team earlier this season. Morales got his shot on Sunday and tossed six innings of three-hit baseball giving up only one earned run. He is now 3-2 on the season with a 3.14 ERA.

Sunday's win was a much-needed one for the Red Sox, as they avoided the four-game sweep. Which player had the biggest impact in Sunday's victory?

It's more how the host country did it.

The Brits played South Korea all the way to a penalty shootout and even nailed four of their tries, with Aaron Ramsey, Tom Cleverley, Craig Dawson and Ryan Giggs hitting their shots to try to send Great Britain to the semifinal against Brazil.

But when it was Daniel Sturridge's turn, South Korea substitute goalie Bumyoung Lee came up the victor. Lee's save left Great Britain just short of playing for Olympic soccer glory, and Sturridge becomes the certain scapegoat for a nation that was so close to advancing. If Great Britain had won, it would have had a chance to advance to the final or at least play for the bronze medal.

Sturridge wouldn't be consoled after his miss, The Guardian reports, in what is the latest in a long line of the British coming up short in such big moments.

Michael Phelps has said this will be his last time swimming in the Olympics, and he appears to have wrapped up the competition with the perfect prize.

Phelps won gold in the 4×100-meter medley relay Saturday night, giving him 22 medals in his career, 18 of which are gold.

The U.S. was down 0.21 seconds when Phelps dove into the pool for his leg of the race. He quickly turned the Americans' fortunes around. Phelps swam past Takeshi Matsuda of Japan and handed teammate Nathan Adrian a lead of 0.26 seconds.

The spurt gave the U.S. victory, with a final time of 3 minutes, 29.35 seconds. Japan took silver (3:31.26), and Australia won bronze (3:31.58).

At one end is her early career as a gymnast when she started with "Mommy and Me" classes. Now she is about three-quarters onto the beam — training for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.

Lynn Raisman has helped guide Aly's journey across the beam. Lynn is Aly's mother and one of her biggest boosters.

Over the past eight or nine years, Lynn has traveled near and far to support her daughter as a fan and, most importantly, as a mom.

"I guess [I've been traveling with her] since she was probably 9 or 10 years old," Lynn said. "I would accompany her to meets. The travel wasn't as extensive and the distance and the frequencies certainly weren't that much when she was young."

The time on the road allowed mother and daughter to bond.

"When I do get to travel with [Aly], it's really nice," Lynn said. "You’re juggling being the mother and making sure she's resting and taking care of herself."

No father is prouder than Rick Raisman. He, along with Lynn, admits that they didn't think about their daughter, when she was younger, advancing this far and competing in the Olympics. Not until the 2010 World Championships did Rick think Aly had a legitimate chance at striking gold.

"You don't ever know for sure," Rick said with a smile wider than the distance between Boston and London.

Since Aly's plane touched down in Boston on July 2 after the Olympic trials in San Jose, Calif., she has been the local center of attention, especially with members of the media. Aly is still only 18 years old, and her mom knows that handling the experience — all of the excitement and thoughts going through Aly's head — might be hard. But for this typical Needham, Mass., family, they are doing everything they can to support her.

Aly is the oldest of four children. She has a younger brother, Brett, and two younger sisters, Chloe and Madison.

When asked what the younger siblings think about the excitement around their older sister, the parents were sure to mention that this is a victory for the entire family as well.

"[The other kids] are excited," Rick said. "I mean, my son is 16 so he gets it a lot more than the younger girls. So he's into it. He watches every single second and wants to go to every single meet. He's one of her biggest fans, by far."

The younger sisters — Chloe at 12, Madison at 10 — don't have quite the same understanding yet.

"It's different," Lynn said. "They’re just kind of like, 'Oh, this is what she does.'"

Aly leaves for Texas on July 11 to begin training with her U.S. Olympic gymnast teammates. From there, Aly heads to London where she will jump, flip and spin her way across the beam, looking to stick the landing, proud to be an American on the biggest stage in the world.

Plenty of teams looking to make a push for the postseason still have room to manuever before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Whether it be the surprising Orioles and Pirates looking to continue the runs that have taken them from perennial basement dwellers to the new powers in their leagues or teams like the Red Sox and Phillies, who haven't played up to expectations so far this season, plenty of teams are still in the hunt and will be looking for extra help.

We've picked a few teams that should make some deals before the trade deadline as well as some who shouldn't bother buying. See some of our choices as the trade deadline gets closer and the surprising and not-so-surprising deals start to fall.

As swimmers, gymnasts and basketball players were making their way to Olympic gold on Sunday, plenty of Team USA supporters came out as well.

First lady Michelle Obama sat courtside as the U.S. Men's Basketball team dismantled France, and the women's gymnastics team got to rub shoulders with the country's first gold medalist of the Summer Games, Ryan Lochte, in the Olympic Village.

The star sightings joined a legion of Americans who took the medal stand over the opening days of the Summer Games.

It’s a customary part of sports, and in the biggest events of the year — such as the Super Bowl or first game of the World Series — the Anthem singer selection tends to get much attention.

That was far from the case at a Dallas vs. Los Angeles Major League Soccer game. Harper Gruzins, 11, knew the words, which is better than other performances, but the singing itself left something to be desired.

Take a look and listen at Gruzins’ rendition of the National anthem below.

Now, with the series tied, the Red Sox will look to win the three-game series, one people probably expected the Yankees to sweep.

Carl Crawford is back in the lineup for Boston after he was given the day off on Saturday as a part of manager Bobby Valentine's four-day plan for his left fielder. Valentine said that Crawford will not play more than four games without a day off so as to not put too much stress on his strained elbow ligament.

Pedro Ciriaco and Cody Ross appear to be splitting the designated hitter role while David Ortiz continues to recover from an Achilles injury. Ryan Sweeney will play right field and Ross will fill the hole left by Ortiz.

Felix Doubront (10-5, 4.54) gets the ball for the Red Sox and Hiroki Kuroda (10-7, 3.34) takes the hill for the Yankees. In Kuroda's lone start this season against the Red Sox, he gave up seven runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Check out the rest of the lineups below.

Red Sox (50-51)

Liriano has been dealt to the Chicago White Sox for shortstop Eduardo Escobar and left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez, according to Major League Baseball's official Twitter account.

The White Sox have a 2 1/2 game lead over the Detroit Tigers in the American League Central going into play Sunday. Chicago already made one major trade this season when it acquired Kevin Youkilis from the Red Sox on June 25.

In 22 games for the Twins this year, Liriano is 3-10 with a 5.31 ERA.

As managerial meltdowns go, Philip Wellman still takes the cake.

The former Mississippi Braves' manager's legendary tirade in 2007 was the stuff viral videos are made of. And while Joe Mikulik's recent blow-up never rose quite to the level of throwing the rosin bag as if it were a grenade, it was still impressive in its own right.

Mikulik is the manager of the Single-A Asheville Tourists, an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. His on-field performance began with just a little talk with the umpire, which eventually led to Mikulik throwing his cap and then giving third base to a fan.

But wait, there's more. This was just his second extracurricular show. Mikulik's first was in 2006 on a play where Koby Clemens, son of Roger Clemens, was called safe at second base. For even more laughs, check out the video of Mikulik throwing second base into right field, pouring water on home plate and more.

Check it out in the video below, with a tip of the cap to SportsGrid.

The 60-foot Boston Harbor hologram — sponsored by the hygiene product company Gillette — featuring Tyson Gay and Ryan Lochte was the much more impressive show on Friday night. The visuals were on two screens of water vapor above the harbor's surface and featured half a dozen projectors displaying highlights of Gay and Lochte.

This was Gillette's way of wishing luck to the United States Olympians, just as the Games officially got underway.
