The Eastern Conference semifinals will not end in a sweep.

The Bruins entered Madison Square Garden on Thursday with the chance to send the Rangers home for the summer, but they could not recreate the inspired play that was a hallmark of Games 1 through 3. Those struggles included uncharacteristic mistakes from two of the team’s best players, as Tuukka Rask tripped in the crease to allow one easy goal and Zdeno Chara turned the puck over behind the net for another.

To hear what both of those players, plus defenseman Dougie Hamilton and head coach Claude Julien, had to say after the game, check out the video above.

Tyler Seguin turned in his best performance of the postseason Thursday night, tallying a goal and an assist and tying for the team lead with six shots on goal, but a mental error on his part proved costly in the Bruins’ 4-3 loss to the Rangers.

Just 49 seconds after giving Boston a 3-2 lead midway through the third period, Seguin jumped out early for his next shift, drawing a two-minute penalty for too many men on the ice. New York’s Brian Boyle scored on the ensuing power play, tying the game with exactly 10 minutes to play in regulation. The Rangers would eventually win in overtime to stave off elimination in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals.

The young winger took full responsibility for the penalty after the game. Check out the video above to hear what he had to say in the locker room.

Bruins defenseman Dennis Seidenberg has been out of action since Game 7 against the Maple Leafs. Luckily for him, the B’s have been just fine in his absence, and he admits it makes it easier to take an additional day to get healthy knowing that his teammates are taking care of business.

Even though he’s not on the ice, Seidenberg has a pretty good pulse on the team, and right now he says the Bruins are playing with confidence — a recipe for success. Check out everything Seidenberg told NESN Daily‘s Naoko Funayama at Bruins practice Wednesday in the video below.

The New York Rangers shut down the Bruins’ top scorers Tuesday night, but it was the grinders that ended up leading the B’s to victory.

Boston’s fourth line was on the ice for both of their goals in Game 3, including Daniel Paille‘s game-winner with 3:31 to play in regulation. Gregory Campbell‘s shot from the left boards ricocheted off linemate Shawn Thornton and over the head of Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist. The puck bounced dangerously close to the goal line, but Paille was there to hammer it home, paving the way for the Bruins to take a 3-0 lead in the teams’ Eastern Conference semifinal series.

Check out Paille’s wacky game-winner below.

The Bruins learned their lesson in the first round against the Maple Leafs. Now, when they have a chance to put a team in a difficult position, they’re looking to take it.

After nearly coughing up a 3-1 series lead to Toronto, the B’s are intent on taking advantage of their 2-0 edge against New York. Add in the fact that the Blueshirts came back from a 2-0 deficit of their own in their previous series, and you’ve got a pretty compelling case for the B’s to make sure they don’t let their foot off the accelerator.

NESN’s Naoko Funayama caught up with Brad Marchand on Tuesday afternoon to discuss Game 3. See what the Bruins winger has to say in the above video or on NESN’s YouTube channel.

The Bruins are up 2-0 in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the New York Rangers, and they may be up two more players the next time the B’s take the ice in Game 3.

Veteran defenseman Dennis Seidenberg practiced with the team for the first time since injuring himself a week ago during the Bruins’ Game 7 win over the Maple Leafs. Defenseman Wade Redden also practiced with the team for the second time since an injury. The two are still listed as day-to-day, but it’s possible they could be ready to play by game time on Tuesday.

If they are, it would leave head coach Claude Julien with some tough roster decisions since the rookie trio of Matt Bartkowski, Torey Krug and Dougie Hamilton has stepped up admirably in the absence of the veterans.

Hear Julien’s take in the video above, or check it out on NESN’s YouTube channel.

It seems like nothing can shake Zdeno Chara.

The Bruins’ captain has been playing exceptionally well despite lining up next to some fresh faces. With Andrew Ference, Dennis Seidenberg and Wade Redden out due to injuries, Dougie Hamilton, Torrey Krug and Matt Bartkowski have been filling in — and Chara hasn’t skipped a beat.

Chara has two goals and eight assists this postseason with 30:02 average time on ice. Chara’s general manager said the defenseman has been “a monster” this postseason.

Check out the video above or go to NESN’s YouTube channel to hear Jack Edwards talk to Peter Chiarelli about Chara and how the Bruins’ postseason experience may help them late in games.

The Bruins’ fourth line has no shortage of fans around the Boston area, thanks to the unit’s energetic play that seems to come through just when the B’s need it the most. That line could also be a difference-maker during the team’s Eastern Conference semifinals against the New York Rangers.

According to NESN’s Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley, the Boston forwards could end up playing a key role in this series because the Rangers just don’t have the depth up front to match up with the B’s. On defense, however, the two tell a different tale.

See what Jack and Brick have to say in the the video above or on NESN’s YouTube channel.

Jaromir Jagr is in the longest postseason scoring drought of his career. The Bruins forward hasn’t scored in the last 17 postseason games, which dates all the way back to his time with the Flyers.

Despite not scoring in eight playoff games so far with the Bruins, Jagr is still finding a way to impact the score sheet. Jagr has had four assists this postseason, and head coach Claude Julien said Jagr has been a good addition to the team.

Dougie Hamilton, Matt Bartkowski and Torey Krug‘s play has been “astonishing,” according to DJ Bean of WEEI.com, but getting Seidenberg and Ference back would be a boost for the Bruins if they hope to best the Rangers. At this point, Bean thinks that Bartkowski should be playing over Wade Redden even if the vet is able to come back.

The Bruins’ blue line looked much greener than usual Thursday night.

After being struck by injury late in last week’s first-round series, Boston started three rookie defensemen — Dougie Hamilton, Matt Bartkowski and Torey Krug — for Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Rangers.

It was the first time since 1985 that the B’s played three first-year blueliners in a playoff game, but the young guns held their own. Hamilton and Krug both found their way onto the scoresheet, with Hamilton logging an assist and Krug beating Henrik Lundqvist for his first NHL goal as the Bruins claimed a 3-2 overtime win.

Captain Zdeno Chara spoke about the performance of his fellow defensemen after the game. Check out what he had to say in the video above.

The Bruins came dangerously close to a very disappointing first-round exit earlier this week, needing a historic comeback to prevent the Maple Leafs from taking the series after trailing three games to one.

B’s head coach Claude Julien said that near-collapse is nowhere near his players’ minds as the team prepares to take on the New York Rangers, though, and that his team is instead looking at Game 7 only as a positive.

Bruins great Cam Neely joined NESN’s Jack Edwards prior to Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals on Thursday to take one more look back at Monday’s monumental win and preview what can be expected from the Rangers.

Check it out in the video above.

If you score on the New York Rangers, save the puck. It doesn’t happen often.

OK, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but the Blueshirts do play a defensive-minded brand of hockey that makes it very difficult to put pucks in the net. John Tortorella‘s squad ranked fourth in goals against during the regular season (2.3 per game) and continued its stingy play against the Capitals in the first round, allowing two goals or fewer in four of the seven games.

Credit for the Rangers’ defensive prowess is shared by goalie Henrik Lundqvist — the 2012 Vezina Trophy winner and a finalist again this year — and a crew of defensemen who aren’t afraid to sacrifice their bodies.

For more on the Bruins’ plan to overcome New York’s dominant D, check out the video above.

The Bruins played the role of spoiler on Monday night, rallying from a 4-1 deficit to beat the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. B’s winger Milan Lucic was spearheaded that charge.

With a three-goal deficit to overcome, Lucic stepped on the gas and assisted on Nathan Horton‘s goal which trimmed the Leafs’ lead to two. Lucic says he told his teammates in the huddle, “we just need one more, you never know.”

Lucic was an important factor in the win, and truly showed his veteran experience.

Check out the video above to hear how Lucic helped his team rally back for the win.
