"This Building Is Vibrating" game trumped the competition to take the top prize.

In 2008, the Bruins faced storied rival Montreal in the first round of the playoffs. Down 3-2 in the series, Boston played a memorable Game 6 at the Garden.

The B's overcame three one-goal deficits to stay alive before Marco Sturm broke a 4-4 tie with the game-winner with just 2:37 left in the game. The raucous atmosphere at the Garden was reminiscent of days at the old barn on Causeway Street, and NESN's play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards captured the moment with the memorable line, "This building is vibrating."

The game trumped another momentous occasion in Bruins history: Cam Neely's 50th goal, netted against Washington in 1994. Neely joined Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux as the fastest players to reach the 50-goal mark in a season.

The Bruins Classics Showdown has come down to the finals: Cam Neely scoring his 50th goal versus the Bruins' dramatic come-from-behind playoff victory at the Garden in the 2008 playoffs against Montreal.

The two games represent different eras of Bruins hockey, but both will go down as legendary in the team's history. You can vote for what you think is the most memorable game on the Bruins Classics Showdown page.

Neely, one of the great Bruins of all time, was slowed down by knee and hip injuries in 1994 — sort of. Despite playing in just his 44th game of the season in March, Neely netted his 49th and 50th goals of the season against Washington. In doing so, Neely joined Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux as the fastest players to reach the 50-goal mark in a season.

Fourteen years later, a rejuvenated Bruins team was hanging tough against a No. 1-ranked Canadiens club. The Bruins had fallen behind in the first-round playoff series three games to one before winning Game 5 in Montreal to send the series back to Boston.

The B's overcame three one-goal deficits to stay alive in Game 6 before Marco Sturm broke a 4-4 tie with the game-winner with just 2:37 left in the game. The raucous atmosphere at the Garden was reminiscent of days at the old barn on Causeway Street, and NESN's play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards captured the moment with the memorable line, "This building is vibrating."

So which game gets the nod as NESN's best? That's up to you.

In an era where goalies receive 'Star of the Game' honors for a couple dozen saves in a contest, looking back at Ron Tugnett's 70 saves against the Bruins in 1991 earns the utmost respect of even the most fanatical fan of today's high-octane offensive game.

Tugnutt's dominant performance sure sounds like one heck of a game, but is it enough to go down as NESN's Bruins Classics top game of all time? What about a Bruins legend popping 50 goals in just 44 games? With one knee and one hip? Such was the case for Cam Neely in March of 1994.

These two miraculous feats are squaring off in the latest round of NESN's Bruins Classics.

On March 21, 1991, Tugnutt stopped 70 of 73 shots to earn his a 3-3 tie against the Boston Bruins, the second highest number of saves made in a regular season NHL game. His performance in that game evoked such respect that after it was over, several Bruins skated over to congratulate Tugnutt.

Neely, one of the
Bruins' all-time greatest players joined the rest of the Bruins' all-time
greatest players when he notched his 49th and 50th goals of the season in one
game against Washington. He needed just 44 games to do so, joining Wayne
Gretzky and Mario Lemieux as the fastest players to
reach the 50-goal mark in a season. Neely was limited to just 49 games in
1993-94 because of a bad knee and a bad hip, but that didn't stop him from
making history.

The quest to find the greatest Bruins game in NESN history continues with another epic matchup featuring two memorable postseason affairs in the Hub's history.

Rosie Ruzicka's playoff performance for the ages in Game 2 of the 1991 conference finals takes on the chaotic atmosphere of the Garden from Game 6 of the conference quarterfinals in 2008 when the Bruins' offensive outburst in the third period led to a win over the Canadiens.

Ruzicka had a part in each of the Bruins' five goals in the thrilling overtime win against the Penguins on May 3, 1991. With the game-winning goal in overtime and four assists to go along with his storybook night, Ruzicka helped the Bruins jump out to a 2-0 series lead in the conference finals.

On April 19, 2008, the Bruins overcame three one-goal deficits to stave off elimination at home. Marco Sturm scored with 2:37 left in the third period to bring the Garden crowd to its feet, creating a chaotic scene not seen since the original Garden stood on Causeway Street.

Which game reigns supreme in NESN history? The choice is yours, and you can vote on the Bruins Classics Showdown page.

If you lived in Boston, you know where you were when the lights went out in the Garden in the middle of Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

You might not remember where you were when Ron Tugnutt pulled off one of the most miraculous performances in hockey history, but you certainly never forgot that effort.

These two games are matched up against each other in the final matchup of the first round of the Bruins Classics Showdown, and the winner will be decided by you.

An unexpected power outage during a Stanley Cup Finals game at The Boston Garden resulted in a bizarre 3-3 tie during Bruins-Oilers Game 4. As a result, the Bruins were forced to travel to Edmonton for the eventual Game 4 which the Oilers won to finish their championship season.

The Bruins may have been outmatched in the series, but the electrical trouble cost them a home game and a chance to turn the series around.

In the Tugnutt game, the Quebec goaltender saved 70 of 73 shots for a miraculous 3-3 tie. It was the second highest number of saves made in a regular-season NHL game and included 18 saves on Ray Bourque alone.

Tugnutt was so impressive that even the B's couldn't help but skate over to shake his hand after the game.

So which game will move on? The choice is yours, and you can vote on the Bruins Classics Showdown page.

The games will air on NESN on Monday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m.

What's the greatest Bruins game ever broadcast on NESN?

That's up to you.

We've narrowed the bracket down to eight finalists, and now it's your turn to vote over the next eight weeks to select the No. 1 heart-stopping, gut-wrenching, iconic Bruins game since NESN became the home of the Black and Gold.

The third week of matchups brings us to the 1988 conference finals against New Jersey and a special regular-season game for Cam Neely in 1994.

In 1988, the Black and Gold clawed their way to their first Stanley Cup appearance since 1978 — and they had to take down the Devils to get there. There was no shortage of drama, either, as Game 3 featured a standoff between New Jersey coach Jim Schoenfeld and referee Don Koharski. A fight in the tunnel — which allegedly ended in Schoenfeld pushing Koharski to the ground — resulted in Schoenfeld being suspended for Game 4, but he got an injunction from the league and was able to coach. In protest, the refs refused to take the ice, so the league had to consult emergency amateur refs.

All the drama culminated in a do-or-die Game 7. Late in the third period, the Bruins' Craig Janney intercepted a pass and slid the eventual game-winner into the goal, then sailed through the air looking like the iconic Bobby Orr in the Stanley Cup finals against St. Louis. Boston ended up winning 6-2 and advancing to the cup for the first time in almost 20 years.

Is that better than Cam Neely's miraculous feat on March 7, 1994? One of the Bruins' all-time greatest players joined the rest of the Bruins' all-time greatest players when he notched his 49th and 50th goals of the season in one game against Washington. He needed just 44 games to do so, joining Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux as the fastest players to reach the 50-goal mark in a season. Neely was limited to just 49 games in 1993-94 because of a bad knee and a bad hip, but that didn't stop him from making history.

Now it's your turn to choose. Don't forget to stay tuned and make sure that your favorite game makes it through to the finals.

That's up to you.

We've narrowed the bracket down to eight finalists, and now it's
your turn to vote over the next eight weeks to select the No. 1
heart-stopping, gut-wrenching, iconic Bruins game since NESN became the
home of the Black and Gold.

This week, in the second matchup of the first round, fans will choose between two momentous games featuring one of Boston's favorite squads to hate: the Canadiens.

On April 30, 2004 — back when Claude Julien was at the helm in Montreal and Michael Ryder was one of the team's biggest offensive assets — the Bruins overcame a 3-1 deficit to score a double-overtime victory over the Canadiens in the conference quarterfinals. The road to overtime was full of the requisite drama: With 30.6 seconds left in regulation, Mike Knuble shot a backhander past Jose Theodore, but the goal was disallowed before video replays showed the puck crossed the line. Suddenly, the game was tied and the bitter rivals were headed for OT.

How did the B's get the game-winning goal? Montreal's Alex Kovalev made a major blunder, abandoning the puck and complaining that he was slashed by Sheldon Souray. His antics cleared the way for Glen Murray's game-winning breakaway lamplighter. The win put Boston up 3-1 in the seven-game series and sent the Habs into a demoralizing tailspin.

Is that better than the events of April 13, 2008? Boston was down 3-2 to Montreal in the conference quarterfinals. It was go big or go home, and the Bruins weren't quite ready to go home. The Black and Gold overcame three different one-goal deficits and, courtesy of a four-goal third period, edged the Habs 5-4 to force Game 7. Phil Kessel scored twice and Marco Sturm tallied the game-winner with less than three minutes remaining, regaining control of his own rebound and sending the puck past a sprawling Carey Price. It gave the Bruins a chance to win their first playoff series in nine years and snap an 0-20 skid in series they trailed 3-1.

Now it's your turn to choose. Don't forget to stay tuned and make sure that your favorite game makes it through to the finals.

That's up to you.

We've narrowed the bracket down to eight finalists, and now it's your turn to vote over the next eight weeks to select the No. 1 heart-stopping, gut-wrenching, iconic Bruins game since NESN became the home of the Black and Gold.

This week's matchup features two legendary Pittsburgh games: Mario Lemieux's 1984 NHL debut versus Rosie Ruzicka's show-stopping overtime goal in Game 6 of the 1991 conference finals.

The legendary Lemieux made his professional debut on Oct. 11, 1984 against the Boston Bruins, and while Pittsburgh fans doubtlessly expected a lot from a No. 1 overall draft pick — and the recipient of the largest contract ever awarded to a rookie — they likely weren’t expecting him to score a goal on the first shift of his first game.

He finished his rookie season with 43 goals and 57 assists, the third-highest points total achieved by any rookie in the history of the NHL. Lemieux finished the year with a Rookie of the Year trophy, an MVP trophy from his first career All-Star game, and the renewed hopes of the franchise resting squarely on his shoulders. And to think it all started against the Bruins.

Seven years later, the B's squared off against the Pens in the playoffs. The 1991 Wales Conference Finals did not go well for Boston, and the horror was epitomized by a demoralizing Game 6 loss to the Penguins. Despite facing a Pittsburgh squad that had won at the Boston Garden just six times in its last 50 games, the Bruins could not pull out a series victory, but Game 2 represented the lone bright spot in the set.

The Bruins took Game 1 by a score of 6-3 but fell flat throughout much of Game 2. After Lemieux put Pittsburgh ahead late, the Bruins struck back on a 5-on-3 power play to tie the game in the third quarter, setting up Ruzicka’s overtime lamplighter which afforded Boston a 2-0 series lead.

Now it's your turn to kick off the voting. Don't forget to stay tuned and make sure that your game makes it through to the finals.
