Miami Heat fan Filomena Tobias is trying to bury the middle finger once and for all.

The Miami socialite became the face of the Bulls-Heat series last week when she greeted Joakim Noah with an obscene gesture after Noah was ejected from an emotion-packed game. As the photo of Tobias flipping off Noah circulated around the Internet, she got the usual attention and rude comments — and then the lid really came off.

A little digging revealed that Tobias’ late husband, Seth Tobias, had mysteriously died in his pool in 2007. The Internet, ever quick to rush to judgment, quickly started making its own connections.

Tobias ignored much of the attention, but she is now pushing back. Her lawyer, Anthony Barbuto, sent a statement to gossipextra.com saying that Tobias regrets the incident — but also that she would please like to be left alone.

“Ms. Tobias has been a devoted Miami Heat fan for as long as she can remember, and like many other devoted fans, she unfortunately allowed her passion for the team to disregard proper fan etiquette. She is only human, and her emotions got the best of her,” Barbuto wrote. “She offers her genuine apologies to anyone she has offended, and she requests that her privacy, as well as the privacy of her family, be respected at this time.

“Ms. Tobias is distressed at the needless national attention this incident has garnered and the unwarranted invasion of privacy by the press into her personal life, including the malicious and untrue reporting about her husband’s tragic passing. What started as a simple and ill-mannered gesture that was made towards a member of the opposing team who had just been ejected has now transformed into a very ugly and despicable intrusion into Ms. Tobias’ past.

“With that said, Ms. Tobias remains loyal to the Miami Heat.”

With that said, the Internet is never going to forget this one.

If the devil you know is better than the devil you don’t, then Florida offensive line coach Tim Davis may not be handing out insults at all.

Davis gave the backhanded compliment of the ages this week when talking to Gators fans about coach Will Muschamp, who is said to model his game after college football coaching heavyweight Nick Saban. If Muschamp can have even a shade of the success of Saban, who has won three championships in the last four years with Alabama, then Florida fans will be pretty happy.

Davis made it sound like he thinks Muschamp has it in him — but not without taking a Luciferian dig at Saban first.

“Will and I go back to the Miami Dolphins,” Davis told the crowd at the Space Coast Gator Club in Melbourne, Fla., according to gaitorbait.net. “I’ve always wanted to work with Will. Will’s got a plan. Will coached under the devil himself for seven years. I only did three. He did seven. And his DNA is not any different than Nick.”

Davis also highlighted the parts of Muschamp that he said set him apart from Saban.

“[Muschamp is] like the other guy, only he’s got personality,” Davis said. “He’ll smile at you. He’ll talk to you. You understand? That’s what he’s all about. That’s Will. I’m proud to work for him.”

Davis also predicted “eight national champions in a row” for Muschamp.

It’s not the first time this year a coach has tied Saban to Lucifer. Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin called him “Nicky Satan” but later apologized personally to Saban for the remark.

If the horns fit….

“It lacked character.”

Those words have been used to describe a Tiger Woods decision before, but the fact that they’re increasingly being used to describe Woods’ on-course actions is something else.

That’s the case this week, though, as Woods finds himself embroiled in a feud with fellow golfer Sergio Garcia. Woods and Garcia weren’t shy about insulting each other as they battled for The Players Championship last weekend, and the bad blood has continued. Garcia is upset about a sequence Saturday in which he says Woods pulled a club from his bag while Garcia was hitting a shot — in a different area, but close enough that the crowd reacted and threw Garcia off his stroke.

Woods has denied accusations that he was trying to distract Garcia, saying he couldn’t see Garcia and that course marshals told him Garcia had already hit.

While both Garcia and Woods have stuck to their version of the story, Garcia appeared to get the course marshals on his side Sunday.

“He didn’t ask us nothing,” marshal Gary Anderson said, according to Sports Illustrated. “We didn’t say nothing. We’re told not to talk to the players.”

Chief marshal John North agreed with Anderson.

“Nothing was said to us, and we certainly said nothing to him,” North said. “I was disappointed to hear him make those remarks. We’re there to help the players and enhance the experience of the fans. He was saying what was good for him.

“It lacked character.”

But that’s not the end of the story. While the situation appears to perfectly continue the recent narrative that Woods is less-than-admirable both off and on the course, with everything from his chats with fans to his drops under extra scrutiny, this one may be less of a case of Woods trying to get his way and more of a basic misunderstanding.

The Florida Times-Union did a little more digging, and two other marshals now say that Woods appears to be right — but just misinformed — in what he was saying.

“It is not true and definitely unfair to Tiger,” marshal Brian Nedrich, who says he was within 10-to-12 yards of Woods, said of the accusations. “That’s because I was the one Tiger heard say that Sergio had hit.”

Marshal Lance Paczkowski, who was working with Nedrich, said he and Woods had already talked about whether more fans needed to be moved.

“He said, ‘No … I’m good,’” Paczkowski said. “We talk to players all the time if we need to in regards to their needs and crowd control.”

Nedrich and Paczkowski were going back and forth on the sidelines about whether Garcia had hit, and their comments were loud enough for Woods to hear. They say that them saying Garcia had hit meant Woods didn’t have to ask — one part of the story that the original marshals questioned, saying Woods never addressed anyone — if he simply overhead them.

Nedrich said Woods may have gotten the details out of order, but he wasn’t necessarily telling a fib.

“There was a lot going on, as usual, when Tiger plays,” he said. “Then, he’s trying to have the concentration he needs to win a tournament. It’s easy to get small details out of whack when things happen so fast. It was an unfortunate incident, and I don’t think either player is to blame.”

Lie or no lie, this much is true: It’s probably safest to check with Garcia before doing anything.

Losing in five would have stunk. Watching James Reimer let through a few more goals after his rough beginning to the postseason would have hurt. Seeing the team’s first trip to the playoffs since 2004 end in the first round was going to be painful enough.

But the Maple Leafs had to do this to their fans. They had made the Bruins look more than underwhelming in Game 5, then again in Game 6, and then had them down 4-1 deep in Game 7 on the Bruins’ home ice.

For anyone looking for the most painful way possible to lose, this was it. The Leafs not only choked up a third-period lead but also gave up two goals in the final two minutes after the Bruins pulled their goalkeeper, letting the B’s push it to overtime then finish running over them 5-4.

In a demoralizing night for all Toronto fans, the most devastated had to be those who filled Maple Leaf Square to watch the game on a big TV screen. They cheered every Toronto goal, but they were also there when things started to go very badly late in the third.

After Patrice Bergeron put the cherry on top with his final, game-winning goal in overtime, the square was a mix of fans bolting the area as fast as they could and the ones who remained, shellshocked, staring at the screen.

Check out the video below to see Maple Leaf Square after the final goal was scored, with some fans hanging their heads in dejection, others leaving in disgust and others staying glued to the screen in disbelief.

This video shows a view from above as the final goal is scored, including people scattering like ants to get away from the loss as fast as they can (check in around the 4:45 mark).

Saying Rangers coach John Tortorella is irascible and unhelpful in a news conference is like saying they have ice at hockey rinks. But Sunday’s after-game chit chat, after the Rangers beat the Capitals 1-0 in their first-round playoff series, was especially charming.

Tortorella has never been one to hide his lack of love for the media, but he was also in a didactic mood Sunday evening, sort of explaining why he wouldn’t be responding to different reporters.

First, Tortorella shut down a reporter whose phrasing began with the words, “Talk about.” Tortorella informed him that he would not be “talking about” anything, and that he needed to be asked a question.

Next, Tortorella flat-out didn’t like a question he received, grumbling, “Holy crap. Give me another question, please.” (The question was something like, “When you say handled it, physically, like handling on the ice, what do you think that means?”)

But none of that compared to the reporter who finally got a decent question across — albeit it a closed-ended one. Tortorella gave a simple “no” and then left the news conference, having had his fill of the media once again.

Check out another of Tortorella’s finest in the video below.

Before the Yankees’ game on Saturday against the Royals, Joba Chamberlain and Mariano Rivera shared a tense moment in front of fans and the media, according to the New York Daily News. Chamberlain was talking loudly with fans while Rivera was trying to speak to the media when the legendary closer shouted, ““Joba! Yo! Bro! Shhh. Stop it.”

Chamberlain did not handle being shushed well. The Yankees reliever was apparently speaking to his family at the time.

“Don’t ever shush me again,” Chamberlain said. “Seriously. Don’t ever shush me again. I don’t get to see my family very often. You [speak to the media] every day. I don’t get to see my family every day.”

Rivera responded with a smile, according to the New York Daily News.

“I didn’t say not to talk to your family,” Rivera said. “That’s all right. You can talk to your family any time you want.”

Neither party had much to say about the incident after the game. All Chamberlain had to offer was “I’m not talking about it. That’s between me and Mo.” Chamberlain and Rivera confirmed they had not spoken since the verbal altercation.

“It’s amazing,” Rivera said. “We’ll take care of it. We’re grownups and I know better than that. We’ll take care of that.”

The spat didn’t affect Rivera on the mound. The closer picked up his 14th save of the season during the 3-2 Yankees win. Mo allowed just one hit and no runs during the outing, lowering his season ERA to 1.76. Chamberlain has a 3.86 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 10 outings this season.

Back in the 90s, if anyone said that Dennis Rodman would get even weirder in 20 years, it would have been hard to believe. But we’re there, folks.

Rodman had some choice words for President Barack Obama on Thursday over relations with North Korea. Rodman is planning to go back to his new favorite country on Aug. 1 to continue his new-found relationship with Kim Jong-un. Part of his trip is to convince the North Korean dictator to release Korean-American Kenneth Bae.

Rodman is apparently upset that Obama won’t talk to the supreme leader.

“We got a black president, can’t even go talk to Kim,” Rodman told TMZ. “Obama can’t do [expletive], I don’t know why he won’t go talk to him.”

Rodman later said “[Expletive] him” about the President. The former NBA star-turned-diplomat (though he adamantly denies he’s a diplomat) is going over to North Korea by himself on Aug. 1 to visit his so-called friend, Jong-un.

If Rodman can get Bae out of North Korea, then perhaps his friendship with Jong-un is worthwhile. But so far, Rodman’s relations with North Korea have appeared to do nothing to ease tension between the two nations, and if he goes over to Jong-un to blast Obama more, it could do more harm than good.

Things got dicey after Rodman came back with Jong-un threatening to set off nuclear missiles. Rodman takes credit for Jong-un “putting them back in storage.”

Rodman has surely had some odd friends before, but becoming besties with an evil dictator is taking his “Worm” persona to a whole new level.

The legend of Filomena Tobias continues to grow.

The Miami fan drew attention this week after she celebrated Wednesday night’s ejection of Chicago’s Joakim Noah by raising her middle finger in his face as he left the court. Tobias soon acquired quite a bit of fame on the Internet, and the story only got juicier when it was discovered that Tobias has a pretty ridiculous background.

Well, if you’ve been waiting for more on Tobias, we’ve got you covered. Video from the TNT broadcast of the play that got Noah ejected shows that Tobias continued her moment of awesome after Noah disappeared into the tunnel. With other Miami fans cheering on Tobias’ finger skills, she turned around and high-fived a bro in the stands.

Check it out in the GIF below, courtesy of Guyism, or see the full video below that, with a hat tip to Business Insider.

The Chicago Bulls showed plenty of fight when they won the first game of their second-round series against the Miami Heat, and despite the Bulls getting blown out Wednesday night in Game 2, here’s guessing that the city is in this one for the long haul.

A local electronic billboard is doing what it can to poke fun at the Heat as the Bulls try to upend the defending champions.

The billboard, which identifies itself (very helpfully) on Twitter as “on the Command Transportation build near Niles Center Road,” visible from the Edens Expressway toward Chicago, has started putting up some cool hometown ads.

In this one, Joakim Noah is making good use of a fire extinguisher.

Marco Belinelli gets some sort of applause for the $15,000 fine he recently incurred against the Nets.

Well done, Bulls fans. Hopefully, more to come?

Ed Helms‘ Andy Bernard character on The Office is getting rejected by just about everyone these days — from Clay Aiken to Aaron Rodgers.

Aiken and Rodgers, an unlikely duo, have reason to share the small screen this week as they both appear in a cameo on The Office. While the NBC comedy is wrapping up next week after just a couple more episodes, the series still needs to resolve the plot line of Andy, who was last seen trying to fulfill his dreams of becoming famous.

In a clip from this week’s episode of The Office, Andy heads to a talent audition only to find that Aiken and Rodgers are among his judges. Andy gets off on the wrong foot and soon gets a reception that is colder than a mid-January Lambeau Field (aw, c’mon — you had to know the Packers pun was coming).

See what Rodgers looks like on TV when he’s not slinging the pigskin in the clip below. The episode is due to air Thursday at 9 p.m.

While the amazing back-and-forth between the Warriors and Spurs was foremost on NBA fans’ minds on Monday night as they were glued to their television sets late for a two-overtime finish, the thought crossed nearly everyone’s mind to mute the TV just so they didn’t have to listen to “screaming Spurs lady” anymore.

In case you missed the game, there was a woman in the crowd that felt it was necessary to screech at the highest possible decibel and octave throughout the end of the game. The high-pitched squeal actually seemed to take attention off the play on the court as Twitter users started pleading to get someone to either quiet the woman or move TNT’s microphone.

The woman wouldn’t stop, and for as annoying it was through television speakers, one can only imagine how terrible it would have been to sit directly in front of the lady. There’s no reason to be doing that, either. Making noise is great — yelling, screaming, clapping, all fine. But just because you can loudly squeal at ear-piercing levels doesn’t mean that you ever should.

If your ears can handle it, check out the audio below of “screaming Spurs lady” react to a missed Stephen Curry shot to send the game into overtime.

Somehow the word “desperate” doesn’t seem strong enough in this situation.

Jaguars fans really want Tim Tebow on their squad. That’s why they have filed a petition to President Barack Obama asking that he calls Jacksonville’s general manager, David Caldwell, to demand the team sign Tebow.

The petition, posted to the White House’s We the People page, is titled “Call NFL Jacksonville Jaguars GM David Caldwell and tell him to stop ignoring the Jaguars fans and sign Tim Tebow!” As you can tell, they are exclaiming this demand.

The petition reads:

“Jacksonville Jaguars fans want the team to sign recently released QB Tim Tebow. However, rookie general manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars David Caldwell is blocking this from happening. If the Jaguars sign & START Tebow, home games will be sold out, sales will spike, the team will win and the fans will be happy.Mr. Caldwell is ignoring lots of facts about the misunderstood Tim Tebow while in Denver: Passer rating of 125.6 is highest ever in Broncos postseason history. Most yards per completion (31.6) in NFL playoff history.100.5 QB rating is best ever for a Broncos QB in his first start.Third most passing yards in a game by a Bronco rookie QB. (308, in his 2nd start), First 15+ point comeback in the final 3 minutes of an NFL game since the merger,7 game winning drives in just 16 games!”

The petition sadly only has 144 signatures so far out of the needed 100,000. Jags fans have until May 30 to reach that total. And frankly, there may not be that many Jaguars fans in the world.

Jacksonville fans should have probably started a much broader petition back before free agency started. One that read: “Call NFL Jacksonville Jaguars GM David Caldwell and tell him to stop ignoring the Jaguars fans and sign any quarterback at all so that we don’t have to watch Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne this season!”

It’s doubtful Tebow finds a home at quarterback this offseason since he couldn’t even pass Mark Sanchez on the Jets’ depth chart last season. Surely Jags fans wouldn’t want Sanchez, right?

Hat tip to the Orlando Sentinel

Tom Brady hasn’t celebrated like this since Feb. 6, 2005.

The Patriots quarterback had a reason (yet unconfirmed) to be excited on Saturday evening after Orb won the Kentucky Derby. As the three-year-old horse’s connections were filtering out of their box while celebrating, Brady filed in with a small entourage to get in on the excitement.

Brady was joined by Tedy Bruschi and Dan Koppen in the celebration. Wes Welker was also in Louisville for the Derby, and that may just be the former New England wide receiver jumping on Brady and Bruschi at the end of the video.

Manti Te’o will be treated like any other rookie that walks into Chargers camp this summer — except he’s the only one who had a very public fake relationship, so the veterans will have more ammo for their jokes.

San Diego linebacker Donald Butler, who will likely start next to the former Golden Domer at inside linebacker in the Chargers’ 3-4 defense, said the team won’t hold back on their jokes, but only because Te’o should be able to take it.

“I’m sure he’ll get some jabs,” Butler told U-T San Diego. “But that comes with being a rookie. He might get a little more because of his situation, but I’m sure he’s man enough to handle it and really grow from it. I don’t think it’s going to be anything over-the-top. It’ll be your normal rookie jokes.”

Te’o has surely heard the jokes before, but not in a situation where he’s trying to impress new teammates. But if Te’o impresses on the field, which is the only thing Butler is concerned about, the jokes will likely subside.

“My things is I just want to see him come here and work,” Butler said. “A lot of people are talking about the future, and as bright as the future may seem or sound, he has to come in and prove himself before anything. That’s what I’m looking forward to. I want someone coming in ready and willing to work and learn and be a part of this defense.

“From what I’ve heard, he’s going to come in and work, and that’s all I can really expect and hope for.”

Te’o was the No. 38 overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft. It probably won’t help the linebacker that his fake girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, “lived” in Southern California.

Te’o's teammates are one thing, but the rookie will really have to get prepared to take punishment from opposing fans this season. The Chargers play on the road against Philadelphia, Tennessee, Oakland, Jacksonville, Washington, Miami, Kansas City and Denver. That Philly game could be brutal in Week 2 of the regular season.

This is how you score tickets to Game 7 of an NBA playoff series.

Rihanna was scheduled to hold a concert at the Barclays Center this Saturday, but the Brooklyn Nets have pushed their first-round series with the Chicago Bulls to seven games, causing some schedule conflicts. With the Nets needing their arena for the small matter of trying to polish off a comeback against the Bulls, Rihanna will have to move her concert to the following Tuesday — but it sounds like she’s getting some free tickets in the process, too.

“I want to thank Rihanna for working with us on this new date and for understanding what a Game 7 means to the borough,” Nets and Barclays Center CEO Brett Yorkmark said in a statement. “We look forward to a special concert, and I hope Rihanna will be our guest at Game 7.”

Concertgoers’ Saturday tickets will be good for Tuesday, but they can also get refunds if the new timing doesn’t work for them, according to the statement.

The Nets have come all the way back from a 3-1 deficit in the series after the Bulls took one in Brooklyn, one in Chicago and then won in three overtimes in Game 4, 142-134. The Nets won at home Monday night and then beat Chicago on Thursday night as the Bulls struggled with injuries and illness.

The Bulls clearly had the upper hand in this one early, but with plenty of star power in the Nets’ corner, momentum may be going Brooklyn’s way — Saturday, Tuesday and beyond.

Oh, Toronto. The Maple Leafs hadn’t made the playoffs since 2004 until they notched a spot this year, but don’t think that the goodwill from going to the postseason will make anyone go easy on the team.

The Toronto Sun had two fine covers prepared for the hometown team Thursday morning after the Leafs got shellacked in Game 1 of their opening-round playoff series against the Bruins. Toronto scored an early goal then got manhandled the rest of the way as Boston put up four goals and outshot the visitors 40-20 at TD Garden. The evening also ended with an ill-timed fight as some Leafs players went after the Bruins despite the final horn sounding.

The Sun captured the sentiment two times over, including a nice bear pun on the back cover.

Really, though, the Sun was tame about all this. After the running gag that local restaurants have been playing on the Leafs for several years now — promising free beer for all Maple Leafs playoff games, knowing full well that wasn’t going to happen — a downcast cover or two shouldn’t make Toronto feel too bad. The Leafs also have at least three games left to try to change the narrative.

Freudian slip? No joke.

CSN Chicago’s Susannah Collins had an unfortunate on-screen slip-up Tuesday night while reporting about the Blackhawks. Collins, channeling the fervor of the Stanley Cup playoffs beginning, jumped into her inside scoop on the hometown team — and then uttered a phrase that hockey fans likely found far more interesting.

Collins was trying to explain that the Blackhawks are treating the playoffs as a whole new season, leaving behind their points streak and 36-7-5 record. Her lead-in, however, suggested that the Hawks have been doing more than playing hockey this season.

“Despite the fact that they’ve had such a tremendous amount of sex during the regular season,” Collins began.

Like a pro, she realized her mistake and went back and said “success” instead, but the damage was done.

Collins’ mistake will live on, as she’s chosen a profession that broadcasts every tongue-tie to the world (as opposed to this medium, where the backspace key can quickly take care of any ill-formed jokes that this situation so easily offers). Kudos to her for being a champ and staying on the job, and here’s hoping for better — spell it now, s-u-c-c-e-s-s — in the next round.

Check out Collins’ gaffe in the video below, complete with a loud guffaw from the viewer.

Things are about to get really, really busy on the sets of TSN, but that didn’t stop the Canadian sports network from having a little fun recently.

TSN is about to kick up its already stellar NHL coverage in a big, big way, with the Stanley Cup playoffs set to begin Tuesday night, and to celebrate, the boys on the TSN panel showed off their acting game.

In advance of the playoffs, members of the TSN crew — James Duthie, Darren Dreger and Aaron Ward — along with a handful of Los Angeles Kings (including one diabolical cameo from head coach Darryl Sutter) appeared in a Hangover-inspired cameo that aired on the network’s playoff preview.

The entire thing is fantastic and very well done, but make sure you stay with the video all the way through for the outtakes — unless you’re a Bruins fan who really, really wanted to see Jarome Iginla and haven’t forgiven Ward for his errant reporting that Iginla was coming to Boston.

Twitter has many uses, and comedian Rob Delaney appears to be attuned to them all.

The comedian, whose Twitter feed is entertaining to the point that he was recognized in the Time 100 and by Comedy Central, tweeted at the Dodgers last month with the hope that he could land the job of singing the national anthem at a Los Angeles game. The Dodgers, like any responsible Twitter users, replied back.

.@Dodgers May I sing nat’l anthem at a game? I’ve done it 3x in years past but my contact left. I’ve done @RedSox 4x. This is not a joke.
—
rob delaney (@robdelaney) March 25, 2013

.@robdelaney How's your falsetto?
—
Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) March 25, 2013

The exchange didn’t end on Twitter, though. Delaney got his chance to show off his pipes this weekend, and his singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” revealed that he knows how to use his vocal chords in multiple ways, too. Delaney, who reportedly majored in musical theater, delivered a pretty solid national anthem. (He did not, however, deliver any jokes mid-song, which he promised when interviewed on the field before the game.)

Check out Delaney’s song below, and then figure out whether he also used Twitter to book that University of Iowa gig.

Jim Harbaugh praised all of his team’s draft picks on NFL Network over the weekend, and he had good reason to — the San Francisco 49ers pulled in an impressive haul this year.

But the highest praise he dished out was to a player that went undrafted during the weekend festivities. Lawrence Okoye is a British rugby player turned discus thrower, but Harbaugh compared him to the Greek god of beauty and desire. Okoye has no previous football experience, but he impressed scouts during the predraft process with his size and athleticism. Okoye is 6-foot-6, 308 pounds and he ran a 4.78 40-yard dash.

“He’s just an Adonis,” Harbaugh told the San Francisco Gate. “Just a great physical specimen of a man. I can think of some other adjectives. Our Creator created a beautiful man.”

Tell us how you really feel, Jim. You could say that Harbaugh was downright smitten with Okoye, who is likely projected to learn the five-technique defensive end spot with the 49ers. He holds the British discus throwing record at 68.24 meters, but finished just 12th in the London Olympics with a 61.03 meter toss.

The 21-year-old further impressed at the Super Regional Combine held in Dallas, Texas, by leaping 35 inches in the vertical jump and 10-foot-5 in the broad jump. He was expected to go anywhere from the sixth round to undrafted.

He’ll have some competition to even make San Francisco’s roster. In the draft, they added safety Eric Reid from LSU, Florida State defensive end Tank Carradine, tight end Vance McDonald of Rice, Auburn defensive end Corey Lemonier, wideout Quinton Patton of Louisiana Tech, South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore, defensive end Quinton Dial of Alabama, Florida State linebacker Nick Moody, South Florida quarterback/athlete B.J. Daniels, offensive tackle Carter Bykowski of Iowa State and Rutgers cornerback Marcus Cooper.

They added six undrafted players including Okoye, according to NEPatriotsDraft.com. Offensive lineman Luke Marquardt of Azuza-Pacific, quarterback/athlete MarQuies Gray of Minnesota, Michigan offensive lineman Patrick Omameh, UCLA longsnapper Kevin McDermott and Utah State wide receiver Chuck Jacobs all reportedly signed on.
