Daniel Nava will play his first game as a father Thursday.

The Red Sox have activated Nava from the paternity leave list, and they have optioned pitcher Steven Wright back to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Nava was placed on the paternity leave list Monday, and he last played Friday. Nava’s wife, Rachel, has since given birth to their first child, a healthy baby girl.

Nava is hitting .282 with 10 home runs and 53 RBIs this season. His .371 on-base percentage leads all qualifying major league switch-hitters, and it ranks second among American League outfielders.

Nava will bat seventh and play first base in his first game back with the Red Sox.
