The deal is reportedly for one year and $2.5 million, according to SI.com.

The Knicks have already bolstered their frontcourt this season by signing Tyson Chandler. But in need of help in the backcourt, they have added Davis, along with Mike Bibby, who spent last season with Miami.

Davis, a two-time All-Star, will not be ready for action on Christmas Day, when the NBA season officially gets under way, because of a back injury that the Cavaliers believed would sideline him for eight to 10 weeks.

Whether Davis is able to play or not, he will still rake in $27 million of the $30 million in guaranteed money from his contract with the Cavaliers.

Cavs general manager Chris Grant issued a statement regarding Davis' release on Wednesday.

"We would like to thank Baron for his contributions to the team during his time in Cleveland," Grant said. "He has been an absolute professional since the day he joined the Cavs and we now wish him the best in the future."

“A disappointment on the human side, I didn’t expect that. This is my personal opinion,” head coach Alexander Djordjevic said, according to Eurobasket.com. “He was the first NBA player in Europe to go back to the USA without a contract, without playing the latest games and help the team and greet the fans, all at 33 years ago only for going on his knees to his wife that wanted him back.”

It’s unclear whether Djordjevic’s English is a little rusty or it’s the result of an awkward translation, but what is clear are the coach’s frustrations about Scalabrine abandoning the team.

“He hasn’t a team and an NBA contract yet. I was counting on his professionalism, respect for the club and especially for his young teammates. He could help us at least until tomorrow, the team needed it, but Scalabrine had a very negative attitude, as already showing in recent weeks, which gave us not so much on the field and beyond, indeed he has also negatively influenced other Americans. We’re thrown off by this, thinking of a serious professional, but caused problems with teammates and club.”

Scalabrine made a more positive impression on teammate and Celtics rookie E’Twaun Moore.

“I ask [Scalabrine] a lot of questions. He has given me a lot of insight — things to look for,” he told the Boston Herald. ”He’s told me that everyone on the Celtics is a close family and gets along real well.”

It is uncertain whether Scalabrine has been talking with teams or is just confident in his ability to play in the NBA again, but wherever he goes, he will be a solid addition off the bench.

The C's announced that they have re-signed free-agent forward Jeff Green.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it's believed to be worth $9 million, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.

Green averaged 13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game last season, but struggled to adjust at times after arriving from Oklahoma City as part of the Kendrick Perkins deal.

The Celtics are also believed to be nearing a deal that would land them David West.

Over 23 seasons, spanning from 1971-93, Restic led the Crimson to a 117-97-6 record and five Ivy League championships.

Restic coached as an assistant at Brown and Colgate, and served as the president of the American Football Coaches Association in 1988. He also led the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL to six Grey Cup appearances.

Restic was a two-sport professional athlete in Philadelphia, playing baseball for the Phillies and football for the Eagles in 1952-53.

Restic is survived by his four children, Kathleen, Joseph, Susan and David and his sister, Agnes Mancuso. He was predeceased by his wife, Marian, in 2008.

With 9.4 seconds remaining in the game, Xavier's Tu Holloway and Cincinnati's Ge'Lawn Guyn got in each other's face. Holloway's teammate, Dezmine Wells, took exception to Guyn and shoved him to the hardwood. Both benches then cleared and punches were thrown.

Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin will meet with the school's president and athletic director to see what the repercussions of the altercation will be. The discussions will most likely be focused on Cincy forward Yancy Gates, who delivered a cheap shot to Musketeers center Kenny Frease, leaving him bloody.

The team has announced many events and programs it will hold to honor the historic ballpark that has held not only baseball games, but also football, soccer and hockey games as well as concerts and more.

"It is with great anticipation that we announce the events for Fenway Park's 100th Anniversary celebration," said principal owner John Henry. "As we embark on the next century of baseball in one of the great cathedrals of sport, we look forward to joining with our fans to celebrate the rich history and character of this ballpark. We have a saying around here that I’m particularly fond of, and I think it is very well-suited for this special occasion – 'Fenway Park: It never gets old'."

"The promise to preserve Fenway Park, a commitment we made more than ten years ago when our ownership group assumed stewardship of this franchise, was made in recognition of what a living shrine to history this ballpark is for so many in Red Sox Nation," said Chairman Tom Werner. "As we prepare to celebrate this centennial with our fans and neighbors, we look forward to commemorating our great home by preserving its artifacts and rich history so that it can be shared with generations to come."

The Red Sox will be extending invitations to fans even when the team is on the road. On Apr. 19, fans will be allowed access to an open house event where they can see historical artifacts and memorabilia, as well as meet various Sox legends. Areas of the park that visitors do not get to see such as the Sox' dugout and clubhouse will be open for walkthroughs.

When the team is in town, select games will be Throwback Uniform Days, the first of which is scheduled for May 2 against the Oakland Athletics. Both teams will wear uniforms from 1936. Tickets to that game and the rest of the Red Sox home games will be commemorative tickets that focus on Fenway Park circa 1912, the first year the Sox called it home.

On Dec. 8, the Red Sox and Major League Baseball released a 256-page coffee table book Fenway Park: 100 Years, with a foreword by Stephen King and contributions from Fenway Park admirers Conan O'Brien, Charles Ogletree and Bobby Orr.

As a keystone event, the Red Sox will conduct "100 Acts of Kindness" with various non-profit organizations around New England including donations, volunteer efforts and hosting community programs.  This event was kicked off Thursday when the team donated copies of their commemorative book to 18 Boston Public Library branches and 125 Boston Public schools.

The next acts will be done on Dec. 12 with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families, Dec. 13 with New Horizons for New Hampshire, Dec. 14 with Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center, Dec. 15 with the Bridgeport, Conn. Rescue Mission, Dec. 16 with the Committee for Temporary Shelter in Burlington, Vt. and Dec. 19 with Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island.

In an effort to engage more fans outside the park, fan contests will be held with online voting for the All-Fenway Team, a Favorite Personal Fenway Park Moment contest and Mayor Thomas Menino's Fenway Park 100 Essay Contest.

"Fenway Park is a jewel of this city and a second home to Red Sox fans," said President/CEO Larry Lucchino. "Fenway's important history and key role require that we celebrate this historic anniversary with great enthusiasm and pride, and we shall."

Peter Moylan, a reliever for the Atlanta Braves, tweeted to Nickelback lead singer Chad Kroeger  suggesting he attend a Foo Fighters concert to learn how to put on a good show. Kroeger took it upon himself to personally respond to Moylan.

"Foos are killer for sure," tweeted Kroeger. "We're doing just fine too thanks. ? for you Pete, is watching [Braves closer Craig] Kimbrel better from the bench or on TV?"

Thousands of stuffed animals rain down on the ice as a part of the Teddy Bear toss tradition, and are then donated to a local charity.

The holiday tradition was started 13 seasons ago by the ECHL Bakersfield Condors. Once the puck drops, fans wait for a player on the hometown team to score the first goal and then they let the teddy bears fly. And best of all, there are no delay of game penalties resulting from the barrage.

Last year in Calgary, the WHL's Calgary Hitmen hosted one of the most successful Teddy Bear Tosses to date. In all, 23,096 bears found their way to the ice, resulting in a 40-minute stoppage to clean up the lucky charities' spoils.

By throwing 13 footballs through a giant Dr. Pepper can five yards away, she was declared the winner. In preparation for the contest, Padilla-Rodriguez enlisted the help of classmate and University of Nevada quarterback Cody Fajardo.

Padilla-Rodriguez submitted a video and was chosen from thousands of applicants to compete for the prize. After the competition, Dr. Pepper president Jim Johnston presented her with a check for $100,000.

The two did not attend either university, but their fandom sparked a pregame wager. With the lockout over and the season approaching, the NBA released NBA: King of the Court on Thursday, its first location-based, augmented reality game exclusively for the iPhone and Android smart phones.

In the game, you can challenge anyone in real locations right on your phone for control of different courts. The challenges are time-based shooting contests in which you can even earn power-ups to get more points or prevent your opponent from getting any.

“It’s been a month. Every time I talk it gets worse and worse,” Rivera said. “When you are talking about surgery, nothing is simple.”

Rivera will have his vocal cords scraped and it’s unclear if he will miss any time this spring while recovering.

“I don’t like surgery but the sooner the better,” he added.

Rivera has completed four consecutive seasons with a sub-2.00 ERA and a WHIP under 1.00 with 44 saves and 60 strikeouts last season. He is the all-time saves leader in MLB history with 603 for his career.

But if your son is a 31-year-old world class rugby player, chances are he can handle himself.

That didn’t stop Lucien Harinordoquy from rushing the field to help his son, Immanol, when a fight broke out between French rugby clubs Bayonne and Biarritz. The brawl erupted early on in the game with numerous punches thrown, according to NBC Sports. When Lucien realized his son was in danger, he reacted by sprinting out of the stands and trying to instigate a fight with a Bayonne player, as seen below.

“I would like to present my apologies to the fans of Bayonne and Biarritz present, to the two teams and their staff members, to the LNF [French League] and the FFR [French Rugby Federation] and to rugby in general,” Lucien said in a statement on Biarritz’s website. “Under pressure, and for various reasons, I totally lost control. I regret behaving in this way.”

The president of Bayonne rugby club plans to file complaints to the French league for Lucien’s behavior along with the behavior of the Biarritz’s players in the fight.

Immanol was one of France’s best players during this year’s World Cup, leading them all the way to the Finals before they fell against New Zealand.

Emergency medical staff attended to the 20-year-old from Twin Lake, Mich. As she was carried off, she was seen smiling and gave two thumbs up to the crowd, according to Yardbarker.com. The public address announcer at the Breslin Center, home of the Spartans, assured the crowd that the stretcher was solely a precautionary measure.

An American Hockey League game between the Hershey Bears and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins came down to a shootout on Friday, with the Bears holding a one-goal edge going into the Penguins' final shot. Braden Holtby was in between the pipes for the Bears and came up with the game-winning save against Penguins forward Nick Petersen.

Holtby bolted out of the crease, skated on one knee and strummed his stick like a guitar, which didn't go over too well with the Penguins' bench. Check out the video below to watch the save and the center ice standoff.

Even more perplexing, though, is the reasoning behind the organization requesting that Melissa Kellerman cancel her account.

During the Cowboys-Dolphins game on Thanksgiving, tight end Jason Witten was pushed out of bounds, at which point he knocked over 22-year-old cheerleader. On Friday morning, Kellerman posted two seemingly harmless tweets about the incident.

She tweeted: "Not hurtin' today, like some of y'all thought I would be! Our TE isn't as tough as he looks… That or I'm WAY tougher than I look. "

And then: "I'm not the best at Jason Witten trust falls. "

Neither of the tweets seemed offensive in any regard, but the Cowboys must've felt differently, telling Kellerman to delete her Twitter account Friday afternoon with no explanation as to why, Yahoo! Sports reports.

Kapp (former BC Lions quarterback) and Mosca (former Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive tackle) got into a fight at the CFL Alumni Legends Luncheon in Vancouver on Friday. It resulted in punches and even a swinging cane.

Kapp is reportedly still heated about a hit that Mosca put on BC running back Willie Fleming in the ’63 championship game that many thought was dirty. Kapp refused to shake Mosca’s hand following the game, and time hasn’t been enough to erase the animosity between the two players.

Landon Donovan scored the lone goal in the win. It was started by a header from England's David Beckham and a pass from Ireland's Robbie Keane. The trio has been considered the best in the MLS, and it made a strong argument when it combined for that deciding goal.

Donovan's goal came in the 72nd minute. Houston Dynamo goalkeeper Tally Hall got a piece of it, but he then watched as the ball slowly rolled in by the right post.

The goal was Donovan's 20th postseason goal — an MLS record– and it secured him the Cup MVP Award. The victory gives Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena his third Cup win of his career.
