Liverpool FC is moving on to Baltimore to take on Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday before heading back across the Atlantic — but not before wrapping up the Bruins-Liverpool Shootout.

When last we left the clash, Shawn Thornton and Martin Skrtel were up 3-2 on Rich Peverley and Joe Cole heading into the fourth and final round.

Liverpool FC players Martin Skrtel and Joe Cole demonstrated their prowess in round three of the Liverpool-Bruins Penalty Shootout, presented by McDonald's.

Skrtel stepped up first with his team, headed by the Bruins' Shawn Thornton, ahead 2-1. Skrtel channeled Antonin Panenka — and, more recently, Andrea Pirlo — and put his shot right down the middle, fooling goalkeeper Brad Jones to give his team a 3-1 lead.

But Cole, who is competing alongside the Bruins' Rich Peverley, responded in kind, converting his own penalty to bring the score to 3-2 heading into the decisive final round.

Rich Peverley and Shawn Thornton squared off once again out on the pitch for the second round of the Liverpool-Bruins Penalty Shootout, presented by McDonald's.

This time, though, the hockey stars left it up to their futbol counterparts to put the ball in the back of the net.

Liverpool FC forward Martin Skrtel was first up for Team Thornton, looking to extend the squad's lead out to a 2-0 advantage. But Joe Cole wasn't going to go down without a fight, as the crafty midfielder nailed a nifty shot from point blank that left goalie Brad Jones stunned.

Shawn Thornton and Rich Peverley are intimidating forwards out on the ice for the Boston Bruins, but put the pair on a soccer field and suddenly they're not quite as threatening.

Well, that's exactly what happened on Monday as the two Stanley Cup champions teamed up with a couple of England's finest soccer stars in Martin Skrtel and Joe Cole of Liverpool FC. The foursome broke off into a couple of teams, seeking to come out victorious in the Liverpool-Bruins Penalty Shootout, presented by McDonald's.

Thornton and Skrtel made one tandem in the gauntlet as Team Thornton, while Peverley and Cole paired up as Team Peverley. The two sides took to the field at Harvard for a shootout of epic proportions, and the first round aired on Monday's NESN Daily.

It has been almost three months since Rich Peverley and the rest of the Bruins were eliminated by the Washington Capitals in overtime of Game 7 in their first-round playoff series. But the time for rest will soon be over — assuming the NHL and the NHL Players’ Association can work out a deal on a new collective bargaining agreement before the old one expires on Sept. 15. That means getting back to things like power-plays, face-offs and shootouts.

But Peverley participated in a different kind of shootout on Thursday, as he joined Shawn Thornton and several Bruins teammates in a penalty shootout with players from Liverpool Football Club. The Reds are in town to begin their North American tour, and they kicked things off with a friendly competition against the guys in black and gold.

NESN’s Naoko Funayama caught up with Peverley after the shootout to discuss his offseason so far and his plans as training camp approaches.

The football club will be partaking in a three-game North American tour, which includes a stop in Boston for a game at Fenway Park. The team has added Fabio Borini to a team that came within a game of winning the FA Cup.
