The Red Sox gave Cuban defector Dalier Hinojosa a $4 million signing bonus when they signed him in October, so clearly the organization feels that he someday will make an impact at the major league level. That “someday” should come soon, as the right-hander will turn 28 in February.
Hinojosa — whom Red Sox director of player development Ben Crockett described as “very outgoing” and “confident” during the club’s recent Rookie Camp — projects as a reliever. It wouldn’t be surprising if a good showing at Triple-A Pawtucket earns him a big league call-up in late 2014.
