Aqib Talib is the Patriots’ best player in free agency, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the No. 1 priority. Talib hasn’t been able to stay healthy for a full 16-game season his entire career. He’s been forced out of AFC Championship losses in two straight years. If Talib comes at a reasonable price, the Patriots should absolutely re-sign him. But it’s dangerous to franchise a player like Talib or make him feel too safe with a long-term deal. If the Patriots don’t re-sign Talib, Logan Ryan becomes a starter with Alfonzo Dennard and Kyle Arrington. A move back to a predominantly zone defense would likely occur.
