Scott Kazmir’s major league career appeared to be over in 2012, when the once-promising lefty was relegated to independent baseball after three injury-plagued seasons in the Los Angeles Angels organization. But Kazmir signed a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians for the 2013 season and did enough to land himself a two-year, $22 million contract with the Oakland Athletics. Kazmir, who went 10-9 with a 4.04 ERA last season, might not be a lights-out performer in 2014. The 30-year-old southpaw should slide nicely into the A’s rotation, though, especially given Oakland’s pitcher-friendly ballpark.
