Tyler SeguinThe Tampa Bay Lightning announced on Wednesday that superstar center Steven Stamkos would not make the trip to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi to play for Team Canada.

Stamkos was selected to Canada’s final roster, but he wasn’t able to fully recover from a broken tibia suffered in November against the Boston Bruins.

The next tough decision for Hockey Canada and general manager Steve Yzerman is choosing who will replace Stamkos on the roster.

There are plenty of good candidates, including Tyler Seguin, Martin St. Louis and Claude Giroux.
