No titles? No dice. Each of these coaches or managers was one of the best Boston had, but when the championships started rolling in over the last decade, they were edged by their title-winning counterparts. While arguments can certainly be made about whether these men were better coaches or managers, or perhaps more influential to their teams, they get just a nod for now. And as for John Farrell, who has that elusive title but also didn’t make the list — well, let’s give it one more year before knighting him.
