Lewis gets drafted No. 22 overall in 1987 NBA draft
Lewis was selected with the No. 22 pick by the Boston Celtics in the 1987 NBA draft. At the time, he was expected to be a contributor off the bench for a Celtics team still in the midst of its glory days — with the likes of Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish in the starting lineup. Lewis only appeared in 49 games during his 1987-88 rookie season, averaging 4.5 points in 8.3 minutes per game, but his time would soon come.
